Ivancso ^wM8fewsa«M]BiiiSji3SMaia«]iH]ia^^ With Summer vacation nearing the end, we can see that the school ' season is slowly approaching. Store windows are featuring school clothes, and also the latest fall fashions. Summer seems to go, just as fast as each month’s deadline , date'arrives — it surely is getting harder to meet the last minute deadline. While most of us were sweltering in- the heat the past few weeks — some of our members from Toledo were enjoying tihe beaches and long trips south of the border. Ida Kovács is looking very lovely with her tan — lazing out on rafts at Lake Erie with her nephews — The John Mokri’s spending a good vacation at Virginia Beach and this time, our Branch Treasurer says “no flat tires, etc.” That makes a good intended vacation a “wish I’d stayed at home” one. Received cards from Arkansas, Arizona and Mexico — from Mrs. Anna Vislay. This wonderful lady is really going west this year. Vacation time for Mrs. Vislay -was two weeks, but she says “This trip is going to take me a month” Nice thing — if you can do it. Father Martin Hernady, assistant pastor at St. Stephen’s Church here in Toledo is in Paris — and he also had an audience with the Pope in Rome. Joseph Joo and Fritz Lesinszki enjoyed the coolness of the North Canadian wilderness doing some fishing. Rose Bodnar, the Bochi sisters, Betty and Gizella, got tanned somewhere “down south”. Received a letter from the state of Indiana, and to ourv surprise, our vacationing member from Delta, Charles Szabó, didn’t want to be late with his premiüm, so a check was enclosed with a short note saying that Mr. and Mrs. Charles Szabó with Mr. PAGE 11 and Mrs. William Vishi are enjoying the nice fishing waters of Indiana. Thanks again, Charlie. Last month’s column had an error which I’d like to correct — Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vámos are the proud parents of a GIRL — and not a boy as was reported. Little Diane Marie is a member of Branch 27. Congratulations! Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gombash, Jr. are proud parents of another little assistant for Daddy — a boy! Mr. and Mrs. John Vaskó, Jr. are also the proud parents of a boy. To our members: In August — the latter part — the telephone changes will be OXford 1-1535 instead of TAYLOR 1535. My home phone will be OXford 1-9641. Joseph Zaborsky is home from tihe hospital. William Smith is ready for the coming year of competition in the bowling alleys — after his short stay at Mercy hospital. Last Thursday, I saw a sight that I’d never forget as long as I live. Member Alex Balia, a Hungarian refugee who came to America in January — greeting his wife Theresa and sons Imre and Gabriel as they stepped off the plane at the new Toledo airport. We wish this happy family a very happy life here in America. To Ernie Taylor and his lovely wife and children along with their nephew Ronnie — w6 enjoyed your visit here with us — our only regret is — you didn’t stay long enough. The next time, park your wrist watches on the landing downstairs! -------------------------------50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. GABOR KOVÁCS made their marriage vows on May 27, 1907 at Mezőtárkány, Heves County. They celebrated the 50th anniversary of their wedding on May 25 this year, in the large Szent Imre Hall. Supper and good wines were served for 150 guests at 7:00 P.M. After supper tihe Prindl Band played giving good cheer. The guests were entertained late into the night. The celebrated couple, GABOR and THERESA KOVÁCS have one son and one grandchild. Their address is 3133 So. Pine Avenue, Milwaukee 7, Wisconsin. They are all members of the William Penn Fraternal Association. GABOR KOVÁCS was founder of Branch 297 which in 1924 merged with Branch 252 and later received the new number 275. At that occasion, the Brandh dedicated its Hungarian flag • made in Budapest and Gabor Kovács was its bearer for 16 years. He was Vice President of Branch 275 for 8 years and in the meanwhile comptroller and member of the Entertainment Committee. He was a faithful manager of the Juvenile Order. He received the “Illustrious” citation in 1947, under the resolution of the Board of Directors’ meeting of March, 1947. Our best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. GABOR KOVÁCS.
