The Matula Brothers Orchestra out did themselves by their selections of beautiful Hungarian Ballads, Waltzes, Fox-trots and csardáshes. The weather being hot and humid the orchestra took refuge out under the shade trees, where a group of men joined them to harmonize in song. The strains of the violin brought tears to the eyes of our older folks bringing back memories of their native land. In the cool of the evening the dancing began, the hall being crowded most of the older folks and young-ones sat outside listening and humming to their favorite tunes. This “HUNGARIAN DAY” outing proved to be the best held in several years. With the William Penn Branch 8-V and the American-Hungarian Citizens Club sponsors doing everything humanely possible to make the day a success. The women of both organizations worked from dawn, cooking and baking the wonderfully delicious food, that was sold out all to soon. Our thanks to all those kind ladies for the long hours they spent over the hot stoves, preparing the gulyás, stuffed cabbage and doughnuts also the ladies who served the food. Thanks to Mr. Frank Dudash, Sr. Chairman of the “HUNGARIAN DAY” committee for his outstanding and back-breaking effort in keeping this affair on the move and all those men who gave their time to help when help was badly needed.
