Branch News Branch 18 member Joey Gall has made many trips to Michigan from Tupelo. Thank you for all your help. Richard Sarosi and I attended the board meeting at the Bethlen Communities. What a wonderful facility. I hope you all think about Bethlen for your senior needs. We met many residents and everyone has only wonderful things to say. We can certainly vouch for the wonderful meals, friendliness, staff and cleanliness. Congratulations to Rev. Bertalan for staying on top of everything. You do a wonderful job. Our bowling tournament was another WPA success. Thank you so much for all your support and donations to our scholarship foundation. We also welcomed so many members who didn't bowl but still came to show their support. We sure have all the best members. Thank you. Happy 60th wedding anniversary to the Rev. and Mrs. Albert Kovács. Wow! You both look wonderful. The Rev. Stefan M. Torok is coeditor of the Calvin Synod Herald. I read each issue cover to cover (the English parts, of course). I really enjoy it. There was a little saying in there that I want to share with you with Rev. Torok's permission: "Live each day so that you will neither be afraid of tomorrow nor ashamed of yesterday." What a beautiful way to live. Happy Independence Day. Remember to thank our armed forces and veterans for our wonderful independence. We are so lucky. Please feel free to contact me at any time at 1-313-418-5572. See you all at golf and at our wonderful picnic. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Finally, summer. I believe all readers are ready to enjoy the sun and outdoor activities. Best of luck to all 2014 high school graduates. Here's hoping your future is full of many new adventures. Congratulations to the Hungarian Room at the University of Pittsburgh on its 75th anniversary. Katie Csornán and the anniversary committee did a great job preparing the festive Cabaret Ball. The performers from the ethnic rooms celebrating milestone anniversaries were wonderful. It was also great to see how wonderful Arlene Csornán is recovering. What a wonderful job the committee did planning the WPA bowling tournament. They provided fun-filled days at the Meadows and DoubleTree hotel. The number of bowlers keeps increasing. I guess word is spreading about what a great fraternal event and scholarship fundraiser this is becoming. The teams had fun while sharing time with friends from far and near. The barbeque following the bowling was a fantastic meal once again. If you are a baseball fan, mark your calendars for June 7, Hungarian Night with the Lakeside Captains. What a nice evening the Magyar Club of Dayton provided for everyone who attended their annual dinner dance. Looking forward to the 31st Annual WPA Golf Tournament & Scholarship Days. Get those reservations in for the weekend's activities. All proceeds from the weekend benefit our Scholarship Foundation. Planning to attend the WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest? Call Steve at 330-746-7704 or Frank at 330-549-2935 to make reservations. Mark your calendars for Sunday, Aug. 10, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., for the Annual Magyar Nap (Hungarian Day) to be held by the Youngstown American Hungarian Federation. It's an old-fashioned day of Hungarian food, pastries, music and friendship. This year, the event will be held at a new location, the Aut Mori Grotto Hall (formerly Our Lady of Hungary Mindszenty Hall), 545 N. Belle Vista Ave. As an added incentive to attend, the hall is air-conditioned. It's with a sad heart I write that the Youngstown American Hungarian Club house has been sold. Many of us have fond memories of the many events held there. We hope the membership can find a way to meet socially and continue events for the Hungarian community in the northeastern Ohio area. Happy retirement to Jim Robertson. We know the friendly skies will miss his smiling face flying to all his different job sites. I know he'll be very busy with all the other activities he participates in. Enjoy. Get well wishes to all those not up to par, especially Leslie Polgar, Sonny Tollas, Teresa Toth, Butchie Csornán and Cheryl Gabrick. Thoughts and prayers to all those who have recently lost a loved one. Best wishes to all our birthday and anniversary celebrants, especially Branch 28 Vice President Frank Schauer. Just briefly, I would like to apologize if some of our readers misunderstood my letter published in last month's William Penn Life in reference to the Hungarian radio program. It was my intent to give recognition to all the dedicated volunteers who have been bringing Hungarian music, culture, history, and current events into the homes of their listeners over all these years. If I offended any of our readers, I am truly sorry. Remember to fly "Old Glory" on June 14 to show our respect for the greatness it symbolizes for us and for our country. Hoping all those great fathers are remembered and given a sign of thanks and love on their special day. If you have any information to share or questions about WPA products, give me a call at 330-746-7704. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Marguerite McNelis Hope everyone is getting ready to enjoy summer and getting ready for the golf tournament, Hungarian Heritage Experience and the great fraternal picnic in September. Hope to see everyone again at these enjoyable fraternal events! Please take a moment and pray for all our service men and women, especially those in harm's way. The bowling tournament was a fun event and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks to all of the frame sponsors. The buffet afterwards was delicious. If you missed it this time around, come join us next year. You won't be sorry! It was a nice fraternal event. Thanks to everyone who came and helped. The 22 0 June 2014 0 William Penn Life
