America's fraternal benefit societies salute sales force during TIC Month’ NAPERVILLE, IL - This May the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) salutes the fraternal benefit system's professional sales force during Fraternal Insurance Counsellors’ (FIC) Month. "The fraternal benefit system is proud of its community service and fraternal programs, but one of the most important benefits to our members are the financial services provided by our professional member recruiters and sales agents," said Katharine E. Rounthwaite, NFCA chair of the Board. "While everyone who helps with member recruitment is integral, May is set aside each year to recognize the system's Fraternal Insurance Counsellors. FICs are talented and energetic fratemalists who have worked hard, studied and completed the required coursework to achieve their well-deserved designation." The WPA is proud to recognize our officers, employees and representatives who have earned this designation. We thank our FICs, listed below, for serving our members according to the highest ethical standards and for remaining loyal to our society and Fratemalism. George S. Charles Jr., national president; Debra S. Evans, annuity specialist; Noreen Fritz, sales representative; Andrew J. Girard, sales representative; Alan Szabó, sales representative; Michael F. Tomcsak, former national director; Richard W. Toth, national vice president-secretary; and E.E. (Al) Vargo, vice chairman of the Board. For Starters Home Office leads effort to aid Pittsburgh area food banks PITTSBURGH - Spring is finally here and we can look forward to once again enjoying nature's abundance. There are many families, however, who don't share in this abundance. They struggle to put food on their tables. The food banks in the Pittsburgh area have seen an increase in the number of families who need help and have experienced a reduction in donated items that they can distribute to those in need. The Home Office is requesting donations of non-perishable food items that will be given to the food banks. For branches within the Pittsburgh area, the Home Office will pick up any donations. Call 1-800- 848-7366, ext. 136, to arrange a pick up. Monetary gifts in place of food would also be appreciated. Make checks payable to "William Penn Association Foundation" and mark on the envelope "Food Bank." If we all work together, much can be accomplished. _____________Letters____________ Recipients thank WPA Foundation for generous donations aiding children Earlier this year, the WPA, through the William Penn Association Foundation, helped make life a little better for many children in need in Hungary. Two separate donations of $2,500 each were forwarded, through the SARA project (Sharing America's Resources Abroad), to the Good Samaritan Children's Home in Nagydobrony and to the orphanages operated by the Diocese of Munkács. As you can see from the letters here, both donations were greatly needed and much appreciated. Our Dear Friends: The purpose of this letter is to express our deepest appreciation for your very generous gift. It was received on Jan. 17,2008. Your funds covered not only the cost of heating the facility but also the water heating for three months. We did not have adequate monies to pay these bills. It was a gift from God. Please accept our heartfelt appreciation for your continued support. We cordially invite you to visit our home and observe the care which is given by our dedicated staff. Please look at our website (urww.gyermekotthon.extra.hu) which includes the William Penn Association as a main sponsor. Katko László, Executive Director Nagydobronyi Református Irgalmas Samaritánus Egészégügyi Gyermekotthon Dear Friends: We have received the money and distributed it among five separate orphanage homes—one each in Huszt, Munkács and Ungvar and two homes in Rot. It is with grateful hearts that we accept your generous gift. We anticipate that we will begin the establishment of a rehabilitation unit in the home at Rot. We would encourage you to visit us at any time to view this project. Rev. Szilagyi suggested that this would be an excellent memorial to the members of the William Penn Association. In Christ's loving name, Rt. Rev. Bishop Antal Majnek, OFM Diocese of Munkács 2 William Penn Life, May 2008
