Branch News Branch 14 Cleveland, OH by Dawn D. Ward Branch 14 meetings are in recess during January and February and will resume Wednesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethlen Hall of the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills, Ohio. We will also hold branch meetings on April 2, Sept. 3, and Dec. 3 at the same time and location. All Branch 14 members are encouraged to attend and help plan the activities. It is not too early for Branch 14 students interested in applying for a scholarship to request an application. Please refer to the scholarship information in the William Penn Life or call the Ward Agency at 440-838-1200 for information. Branch 14 scholarship recipient, Paula A. Rosenberg, formerly of North Olmsted, Ohio, already has accomplished many things since her graduation from Aquinas College in 2005 with a B.A. in Communication and English. While at Aquinas, she participated in a semester study abroad in Ireland. She also participated in service learning trips to Acadia National Park and San Salvador. She earned a masters of education in college student affairs and leadership from Grand Valley State University April 2007. While there she was president of the Graduate and Professional Student Association and had assistantships with the College of Health Professions and the Counseling and Career Development Center. Paula currently works at the New School in New York City as an advisor in the Fashion Design Department at Parsons School of Design. In March, Paula and a coworker will be presenters at the National Association of Academic Advisors Region I conference in Portland, Maine. Paula is the daughter of Branch 14 member Marie Rosenberg and granddaughter of late member Agnes Boda. Congratulations Paula! You have a very bright future, and we're very proud of you. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy Valentines Day. Hope you are surrounded by lots of love every day of your life. Irene Korpák spent the first week of December with her family in Mississippi. They include her son Joe, his four children and four great-grandchildren. They celebrated an early Christmas as they do every year. Just spoke to Endre Csornán at the Home Office, and he is busily getting info for our upcoming trip to Hungary. The trip will leave Sept. 17 and return Oct. 1. This will not be a trip during which you move from city to city every day. We plan to spend four days in one place, then four days in another, and so on. I really don't like those trips where you move every day. They are hard on everyone. I sincerely hope you will take this trip with us. I promise you it is a trip of a lifetime. What better way to learn about your ancestors than with friends. Stay tuned for more news, or call me anytime. Get well wishes to Judy Beri, Rose C. Antal, Bill Sorke, Rey Holguin, Elsie Kantor and Rocky Borsa. You are all in our prayers. Please remember our deceased members in your prayers also, especially Eugene Szegedy and Boniface Nowak. Happy February birthday to all our wonderful members, especially Michael Toth, Frank Zito, James DeSana, Bernard Korody, Lou Deregi, Walter Burinda, Mike Soter, Derek Danko, Jason Cassar, Logan Tokarczyk, Joseph Tyler Gall, Darlene Szatmári, Eiaina Kline, Denis Molnár, Pat Soltész, Emmalee Collins, Benjamin Dear, Margaret Hatline, William Raymond and Sierra Rivera. May you have many more. Our branch trip will be held June 23 to 25. We have received requests to return to Traverse City and Little River. We are also looking into Kewadin. This will be a two-night/ three-day trip. Watch for more details. A very special "hello" to Chuck House. Our next member meeting will be held March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the American Hungarian Reformed Church on Allen Road in Allen Park. After the White Rose Ball, Gabby and I leave for Florida. Have a wonderful winter. It sure has been great so far. Who needs Florida? Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ by Evelyn Bodnar Branch 19 New Brunswick held its annual Christmas party on Dec. 16 at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church in New Brunswick. In attendance were more than 20 children and their parents and friends. The group enjoyed a delicious hot buffet meal and wonderful desserts. The children participated in a Christmas sing-a-long and had personal visits with Santa. The children shared their wishes with him, and all the children received presents from the William Penn Association and the Church. As always, the children thank the WPA for its generous gift of fun presents and a lovely Christmas party. Following the party, the election of branch officers was held. The current officers were reelected: Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Bodnar, president, Evelyn Bodnar, secretary-treasurer, and Burt Suldo and Jennifer Orlick, auditors.
