President-Fraternal Endre Csornán, and the WPA continues to work on a trip to Europe in 2008.1 promise to let you know all the details as they become available. Please remember our Scholarship Foundation in your bequests. Many of you and your children benefited from the Foundation. Now would be a great time to give back. I'm sure many have super jobs and great lives. Please help us keep the Foundation alive and well. We also remind members to please bring non-perishable items to each branch meeting. These items are needed by many in our community and are much appreciated. I will be home the entire month of January and part of February. Then I will spend a couple of weeks in Florida. The best numbers to reach me at are 1-734-782-4667 (home) and 1- 313-418-5572 (cell). Best wishes for a beautiful holiday for you and your loved ones. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH——I ............... I ......-,i—J—— by Kathy Novak Wow! Can it truly be the Christmas season already? How fast the days go by-Santa visited Youngstown a little by attending the Branch 28 Christmas party on Dec. 1. I'll be sharing all the details of this event in the January issue, as well as publishing the winners of the holiday scholarship raffle. With the support and assistance of the Home Office, Branch 28 will be donating funds to two local families and a local charity this holiday season. A big thank you to Endre and Arlene Csornán for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend Branch 28's October and November meetings. It's always so nice to visit with these wonderful WPA friends and to be updated on activities of the Association. In conjunction with our regular November meeting, a dinner was held with four of our nine new 50-year members. All nine honorees were Branch News invited and received certificates for achieving 50 years of membership. Those in attendance to receive their 50-year pins and token gifts were Leslie Polgar, Irma Polgar, Frank Schauer Sr. and Sándor Tollas Jr. Congratulations were extended to these honorees by all in attendance at the meeting. Photos will appear in the next issue. Applause to Branch members Randy Horvath for his generous support of the North Jackson football team. Although Randy never sought any recognition, it has come to be public knowledge that he has been providing dinner for the team's players and coaches prior to every football game since the mid-1990's at his restaurant, Wranglers. What a great way to show pride in your community. The annual memorial service for the 1956 Hungarian Revolution was held Nov. 4 at the monastery. Participants in the program included Frank Szalay, Frank Schauer, the Rev. Msgr. Dezső Túrok and Joseph Horvath of Toledo, Ohio. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Csornán, who brought the WPA display boards which were first viewed last year at the Association's Grand Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Revolution. With all the festive celebrations taking place, we can't forget to wish everyone having a birthday or anniversary this month a very special day. Special greetings go out to Dan Kalosky on his 90th birthday and to Steve and Mary Vargo on their 60th wedding anniversary. Congratulations to member Rachel Schauer for making the homecoming court at LaBelle High School in Florida. We welcome the newest members of Branch 28: Theresa Adams, Katherine Adams, Theresa Cico, Stephan Cico, Bryce Crofford, Bella Brabant, Ralph Bryan III, Dawn Bryan, Lisa Kish, Russ Lowery, Sue Mázon, Sarah Mázon, Alex Mázon, Larissa Palotsee, Kevin Pansch, Landon Paul, Kyle Phelps, Taylor Phelps, Makenzie Pickard, Madelyn Pickard, Noah Ruz, Marge Sams, Madeline Schreffler and Tyler Slack. Get well wishes to all those under the weather, especially Gerry Davenport. As always, but especially at this time of year, we remember with special thoughts and prayers those who have recently lost a loved one. May the love and peace of this holy season be shared by all our families and friends. Best wishes for a heartwarming Christmas season. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNelis Sorry that it has been some time since we have had an article, but I haven't received any news from branch members to share. Please call me if you have any news, and I will be more than happy to share it with everyone. On Sunday, Nov. 4, at Princess Lanes in Whitehall, the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh sponsored a fundraiser to benefit Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh entitled Kidz Bowling 4 Kidz. What a great turnout and what a great event! Everyone that attended had a great time (that included the adults). The Pirate Parrot and the Penguins' Iceburgh were there to cheer everyone along. Branch 34 was represented by Aaron Fisher and Gábriellé Kelley. They both bowled well, and Aaron won two prizes. Way to go Aaron! It was great to see our friends from the other fratemals, Home Office employees (good job Mark) and all the children. We need more events like this with our children and other fratemalists. Everyone is to be commended-- those who put it together, and those who attended. Kids, get ready to bowl in December. Information will be forthcoming. We would like to extend happy birthday wishes to all branch members celebrating their birthdays. We hope that you all are happy and healthy. Remember in your prayers our servicemen and women both here and overseas. Freedom is not free! John, thanks again for the "Jarhead Red." If you have any news you would 16 William Penn Life, December 2007
