Branch News Young members of Branch 18 line up for special children’s activities during the branch’s annual picnic held Aug. I. Branch 14 Cleveland, OH I by Dawn D. Ward Many Branch 14 members are looking forward to attending the Fourth Annual William Penn Association Picnic at Penn Scenic View on Sept. 11. Thanks and appreciation to Violet Sarosi for once again booking a full bus for the trip. This is a perfect way to wind down the summer, enjoy great Hungarian food and experience the William Penn fraternal spirit. The branch will host its annual children's Christmas party Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Bethlen Hall of the First Hungarian Reformed Church. Our young members will receive invitations, but all Branch 14 members are welcome. The branch continues to grow in membership, and we welcome the following new members: Ráhel Krasznai, Alecia Clinton, Kayla Clinton, Christopher Lilje, Ashley Sines, Brian Sines, Danielle Sines, Keith Sines, Matthew Sines, Stephanie Sines, Cynthia Smith, Mariah Yost and Melody Yost. Congratulations to Branch 14 member Rachel Levi who led her Padua Franciscan High School teammates to victory in the Ohio Girls Golf Foundation Tournament this July. Rachel, granddaughter of longtime members Tom and Vera Levi, shot a 3-over par 75 to win medalist honors. She is just entering her sophomore year and is a dedicated student of the game. She consults with LPGA tour player Barb Mucha and has utilized the services of a sports psychologist to hone her game. We will keep you posted on the progress of this fine young athlete. The next branch meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills. All Branch 14 members are welcome to attend to help plan future activities. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy first day of fall. Wow! Where did it go? We really did not have a real summer. It was not that warm here in Michigan. I believe we had only two days above 90 degrees. But, I'm not complaining. I want to thank everyone for remembering me during my convalescence from surgery. I had my surgery on July 6. My mother put in day shift, and Tommy put in night duty. I am still in a brace and will be for sometime to come. The many cards, letters, gifts, flowers, phone calls and prayers (especially the prayers) were greatly appreciated. I don't know what I would have done without each and every one of you. Thank you very much. I love you. Our fourth annual branch picnic on Aug. 1 was our best ever. I know not everyone signed in, but I estimate we had at least 225 people in attendance. I know better than to try to remember everyone who worked so hard, but I feel I really must thank some very special members: Carol and Doug Truesdell, Elsie and Bob Kantor, AI and Olga Wansa, Mike Wansa and Kati, Helen Molnár and Mark, Eileen Gonzales, Arpad Antal, Rose P. Antal, Steve Nagy, András Breznai, Ernie and Joanne Mayoros, Elaina and Dennis Kline, Tom House and Grace and Mary Balaythy (our wonderful/anfc makers). I also thank all those who donated door prizes, the WPA Home Office for all the children's prizes, Irene Korpák for handling the invitations, all who brought desserts and anyone else I may have missed. Without you, it would not have been so great. Every year we get bigger and better. Thanks to Bill Imry, Doug Truesdell and Kati for all the wonderful pictures. Get well wishes to Sierra Rivera, Bill Imry, A1 Wansa, Frank Zito, Julius Bubenko, Zita Prowse, Dawn Ward and Arlene Csornán. I hope you are all better soon. Congratulations to Helen Molnár on being a winner at the Annual Golf Tournament. I know you are thrilled. Welcome new member Anita Kosaski. Special thanks to the Matecki family. (Hi, Tom!) Happy September birthday to Margaret Danko, Lydia Kadi, Jennifer Balog, Eva Veres, Olivia Hall, Andy 16 William Penn Life, September 2004
