national vice president-secretary and branch vice president, greeted the group and introduced Elmer W. Toth, vice chairman of the Board and branch president. Also introduced were Chairman of the Board Anthony C. Beke and his wife Margo. The noted magician-illusionist Dustin Ashbaugh and his partner Miss Julie provided entertainment. The children were thrilled with his act. After the show, we served a buffet luncheon, followed by the singing of Christmas carols. To encourage Santa's arrival, many of our young members, along with a few parents and grandparents, formed a chorus line and sang a rousing version of "Jingle Bells." Santa Claus arrived and entered the hall with a great "Ho! Ho! Ho!" He visited with the children, listened to their wishes and distributed Christmas gifts. We would like to thank the National Officers and Board of Directors for making our party possible. We extend our best wishes for a very happy new year to the Board, the Home Office employees and all our members. Special thanks go to the following members of Branch 89 for helping to make our party a success: Elmer, Ruth and Lisa Toth; Richard and Nancy Toth; Elaine and John Toth; Justin and Timothy Toth; and Vera and John Recktosh. During the recent holiday season, our branch delivered 21 gift certificates, food baskets and fruit baskets as part of the WPA's Holiday Basket program. I would get tired from doing that much shopping, but Branch Auditors Helen Pécsi and Anna Horvath are hearty, loving souls. They did the shopping and made all 21 deliveries. The branch's children's Christmas party was fun for everyone. We all enjoyed a pizza party. Each youngster received a gift certificate, and there were door prizes for the youngsters and adults. How long has the WPA been hosting such parties? Well, it was brought to my attention by some of the grandparents at our most recent party that they used to be the kids at our Christmas parties. The Branch 132 annual picnic is scheduled to be held in July. We will give you more information as soon as it is available. The branch officers wish our members and friends love and peace in the new year. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA by Goldie J. Szarka Jó hideg van! It is COLD!
