Branch 26 Sharon, PA by Gerry Davenport On Dec. 14, Branch 26 held its family Christmas party at Neatfeat Roller Skating Rink in Grove City, Pa. It was surprising to see so many adults put on roller skates and dance to the music right along with the kids. After a buffet luncheon, homemade cookies and desserts, Jolly ole' Santa Claus (R.J. Robison) made his appearance and was the highlight of the evening. The children, as well as a few adults, sat on Santa's lap and told him what they wished for on Christmas Day. All the children then received goodie bags with treats donated by the Home Office. Santa's helper, Suzi Elf (Suzi Robison), gave each child a special gift from the branch. Many thanks to the WPA Officers and Directors who helped make it possible for all the children and adults to have a great time. I would like to extend special thanks to Branch President Glenn Davenport for putting this event together. A branch meeting and election of officers were held after the festivities. Reelected were Glenn Davenport, president, and Gerry Davenport, secretarytreasurer. Please watch for more branch news in future issues of the William Penn Life. Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA by Andy McNelis At the American Hungarian Social Club in Hazelwood on Dec. 14, our branch was joined by Branch 71 Duquesne, Pa., to celebrate the annual family Christmas party. The members that braved the snow to attend the party were entertained by illusionist Magic Mike. He had the children and adults totally amazed with his performance. The Rev. Ilona Komjáthy of the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh played the piano and led the children in singing Christmas carols in English and Hungarian. Thank you, Reverend. As the children entertained themselves with the bag of gifts from the Home Office, they participated in a number of games for which prizes were awarded. Chris Elek accompanied the children in singing "Jingle Bells" which signaled the arrival of our special guest, Santa Claus. Santa sat and talked with each child and asked what they would like for Christmas. Then his "elves" passed out gifts of envelopes and candy to all the children. Both Branch 71 and Branch 34 would like to extend a special thank you to the Board of Directors and the Home Office staff for making this holiday season for our young members so fantastic. The American Hungarian Social Club in Hazelwood was the site of our annual branch meeting on Dec. 15. Elected to serve the branch for the year 2003 were: Andy McNelis, president; Mike Kara, vice president; Terri Varas, secretary; Marguerite McNelis, treasurer; and Maria Bistey and Andy McNelis III, auditors. Our next branch meeting will be held at the Hungarian Club on Flowers Avenue, Feb. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Please watch the William Penn Life for the dates and times of other events. Toth On Dec. 8, Branch 89 held its annual family Christmas party at the Homeville Fire Hall in West Mifflin, Pa. We were very pleased not only that we have a wonderful turnout but also that the weather cooperated with us. The number of children attending reflected the many sales of new juvenile policies for the year. Upon entering the hall, each child received a goodie bag containing many surprises. Richard W.
