Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Here it is already 2003. Time sure does fly when we get older. I never believed that, but, I sure do now. Tommy is turning 65 in March and talking about semi-retirement. Can you believe it? I sure can't. I hope 2002 was good to you. If not, we can only pray that 2003 will be a better year. We must all pray for peace. Remember our deceased members and their families in your prayers, especially Sam Vespremi, brother of Louise Vespremi. Remember also to pray for Karen Schvarckopf, wife of Gust Schvarckopf and daughter-inlaw of Rocky and Emma Borsa. Our prayer are with them. Rest in peace, dear members. Pray also for those members of our armed forces who have been deployed to fight the war on terrorism. Our grandson, David M. Wolfe (pictured left) serves as a petty officer-third class on the destroyer Oscar Austin. David is the son of Deborah and Glenn Wolfe and the greatgrandson of Rudy and Irene Korpák. All are WPA members. Get well wishes to Nick Toth, Betty and Rey Holguin, Mike Poliska, Liz Piwowarski, Elsie Radvany and Ann and Mike Hrabar. Sure hope this year is better than the last. Get well soon. Welcome to new members Denis Molnár, Brianna Revard and Katelyn Spray. Katelyn is the great-grandchild of Rudy Korpák. Thanks, Rudy, for making her a new member as soon as she was born. Thanks to Marge Heller, Douglas Truesdell, Genevieve Molnár and Rocky and Emma Borsa for your donations to Branch 18. We love you all. Thanks also to Doris and George Schvarckopf. Great stuff! Branch 18 held its annual election at our Dec. 13 meeting. Your officers for 2003 are: Barbara A. House, president; Helen Molnár, vice presiBranch News dent; Carol Truesdell, treasurer; Rose P. Antal, secretary; and Elsie Kantor, Doug Truesdell and Tom House, auditors. Thank you all for the commitment you have made to Branch 18. Thanks also to Emma Poliska for installing our new officers and to Betty and Rey Holguin for all their years of hard work. You alone know just how hard it really was. Love you. Our next branch meeting will be held Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the American Hungarian Reformed Church. Our next big trip will be held June 22 to 25. We are planning a Mackinac Getaway. For details, see the ad below. The trip is limited to 30 people, and half of the spaces are already reserved. Plan to come with us. Member Laveme Exner has reason to be proud. Her granddaughter, Laura Exner, has been selected as president of General Motors' Jumpstart Organization. Laura is nearing completion of her studies towards a master degree from Kettering University. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan and was ranked in the top 10 in her class at Woodhaven High School. Way to go, Laura. Happy birthday to James Desana, Lou Deregi, Michael Kara, Walt Burinda, Emilia Blair, Mike Soter, Emma Toth, Goldie Vass, Tyler Gall, Elaina Kline, Margaret Hatline, Sierra Rivera, Margaret Heller and, my bud, Diane Torma.
