Branch News tainment. One evening, Native American artisans demonstrated crafts and played traditional music. Outside near the resort pool, highpowered telescopes allowed us to gaze at the stars. Everyone attending Saturday's banquet received a "pisanki" egg compliments of the Polish National Union of America. Pisanki is the practice of coloring Easter eggs. No two were alike. Branch President and National Director Mike Tomcsak represented the Florida Fraternal Congress at this meeting. On behalf of the Florida congress, he accepted a gold medal for achievement and a silver certificate for the state's Join Hands Day projects. While in California, I spent time with my sister Reni Garett and her family in Roseville, Calif., and with Mike's sister Veronica Weingart, her daughter Mary and son Kenny in Riverside, Calif. Veronica is 87 years young. 1 really enjoyed my time there. On Oct. 5,1 was in Youngstown, Ohio, for the wedding of Nicole Nagel and Sam Geraci. While in town, I attended Mass at St. Stephen of Hungary Church and renewed friendships with Nancy Hagg, Bill Peyko, Bill Skeebo, Frank Tobias, Bill Bennett, Ginny and Ted Kinnick, Irene Nemeth, Steve and Cathy Novak, the Horvaths and the Kaluszkys. Frank and Mary Schauer just returned from Hungary, and Frank brought a flag for the church. Thanks to Dru and Bob Scekeres, Eleanor and Tony Di Guillio, Julie and Kalman Nagy and Vi and Art Shinski for their confidence in the WPA. We wish all our members a Happy Thanksgiving. For all your life insurance and annuity needs, please call Mike Tomcsak at 863-858-8071. jr ■ * i Branch 705 ____Mayville, WI _ by Jack Lippert As this year comes to an end, the William Penn Association trapshooting team concluded another season of league shooting at the Mayville Gun Club. The schedule this year consisted of 16 weeks throughout the summer. We are grateful to the person that made the statement: "It's not so much who won or lost, it's how well you played the game." Although we did not wind up in the winner's circle, our team placed well into the top-half of the better shooters in actual targets broken. However, in a field of 30 teams, many start-up teams, it is easy to lose a shoot by one-tenth of a target under the 80 percent handicap rule. The team's regular shooters this year included Jim Hurlbert, Steve Wald, Mike Wald, Scott Batterman, Ed Templin and Jack Lippert. A discussion of the year and current events was held at a dinner for team members and spouses at the Iron Ridge Inn, Iron Ridge, Wise., on Sept. 28. In a fashion similar to that of some major league baseball teams, we plan and hope to have a better year in 2003. * I Branch 720 Dedham, MA Branch 723 Worcester, MA Branch 725 Springfield, MA by Andrew Girard, FIC We extend to all our fellow members in the Greater Boston area our best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
