These things take a lot of work, but it sure is worth it. We had prizes for all attendees and 48 grand raffle prizes. All prizes and the desserts were donated. Mike and Emma Poliska played host to Emma's brother Alex and sister-in-law Kathy Moldovan from Texas. They worked the entire time for Branch 18. Thank you so much for sharing your family. We sure kept them busy. Our annual election was held Dec. 6. Chosen were: Barbara A. House, president; Betty Holguin, vice president; Rose P. Antal, secretary; Carol Truesdell, treasurer; Rey Holguin, auditor; Tom House, auditor; and Doug Truesdell, auditor. We are also very fortunate this year to have Ernie Mayoros on board. He will fill in where needed. We welcome him with open arms. Our annual family Christmas party was held on Dec. 10. We had 110 in attendance. A magic act was followed by our carolers led by Irene Korpák, Emma Collins, Emily and Bonnie. Santa made his yearly appearance (thanks Gaber), and then we all had lunch. About that time all the kids became kids having a ball with all their toys. Thanks, Home Office, for all the goodies you supplied. The yo-yos were a lot of fun. As usual we had a set-up and take-down group that worked very hard. I know they are pooped by now. But, I love you all. Our branch decided to buy $300 in food gift certificates which were distributed to needy families. On Wednesday, Dec. 13, we held a bingo at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor. We packed 40 bags which we delivered to each veteran on the floor which we "adopted." Each bag contained toiletries, cookies, candy, pop, fruit, crackers and many other things donated by members. What a moving experience that was. Thanks to Doug and Carol Truesdell, Mike and Emma Poliska, Lou Deregi and La Verne Exner, Bill Imry, Rose C. Antal, Mary Duzy and Vivian Hollis for coming with me. We had a super time. This really gives you the Christmas spirit. There was not a dry eye among us when we left. Please pray for the families of our deceased members, especially: Mary Szerda, mother of Mary Varga and son-in-law of Steve. Mary had 96 happy years. She will be missed by them very much. Pray also for Rose Politz, Ethel Horvath, Vincent Lovász, Rose Laczo and Elmer Hagerl. May God be with their families. Rest in peace, dear members. Sympathies are extended to National Auditor Marge Boso on the death of her husband Charles. The very next day she lost her father, David George. Mr. George was always in attendance at WPA functions. A real sweetie. We are so sorry, Marge. We will remember you in our prayers. Branch 18 and many of its members are proud supporters of the Annual White Rose Ball. Invitations will arrive shortly. Please help the Hungarian Arts Club keep this tradition alive. The ball is held the first Saturday of February. Looking forward to seeing many of you there. Happy birthday to all our January William I'enn Lite, Januar^iSlOO I 13
