Branch 34 Pittsburgh, PA All of us at Branch 34 want to send our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery to Andy McNelis, branch president and national director. Andy suffered a mild heart attack in December. He spent several days in the hospital before being sent home to continue his recovery. We hope the new year brings him, and all our members and their families, good health and happiness. Branch 51 Passaic, NJ By Arthur Barillo On Dec. 3, Branch 51 held its annual Christmas party and election of branch officers at the American Hungarian Club in Garfield, N.J. Those elected to serve our branch in 2001 were: Arthur Barillo, president; Frank Zimmermann, vice president; Richard Mozer, treasurer; Christine Baldyga, secretary; Joseph Baumgartner, auditor; and Ernest J. Mozt* 3r., auditor. Both the children and parents alike enjoyed Colors the Clown, who entertained the children with face painting, magic tricks and games. Afterwards, Rita Mozer, Jamie Branch 51 officers for 2001 are (l-r) Richard A. Mozer, treasurer; Joseph Baumgartner, auditor, Arthur Barillo, president; Christine Baldyga, secretary; Ernest J. Mozer Sr., auditor; and Frank Zimmermann, vice president. Rubin and Alexa D'Amico led the group in singing Christmas carols from the songbooks provided by the Home Office. As everyone sang “Jingle Bells", Santa Claus (Ernest J. Mozer Jr.) made his grand entrance, ringing his bell and shouting "Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!" As each child sat on Santa's lap, they were asked if they were a good boy or girl during the year and what they wanted for Christmas. Santa, with the help of Mr. Barillo, gave each child a gift. The children also received coloring books, crayons, pencils and pens. The adults were given lovely WPA 2001 calendars and information on how to purchase life insurance policies for themselves and their families. After Santa returned to the North Pole, all were invited to stay for refreshments and to enjoy each other's company. We are thankful for everything provided by the Home Office which helped to make our party a success. We wish everyone a very happy, healthy new year. Branch 76 Philadelphia, PA By Jack Tokár What an exceptional Christmas party we had for Branch 76! We held our party jointly with the Philadelphia Hungarian Club on Dec. 16. There were lots of children, many more than we had expected, but there were gifts from the WPA and from the club's Santa. The food was excellent, tasty, plentiful and well presented. The decorations at the club were very festive for the Christmas season. We want to give many, many thanks to the members of the Hungarian Club for their hard work. We know that Ducci Yuhasz, Hungarian Club president, Ann Dobo, Magda Patkó, Magda Sorbany, Marti Tegzes, John Tegzes, Sophia Bussa, Steve Bussa and the club's stewards all contributed a great deal. There were undoubtedly many others who worked hard and whose names we have not mentioned. Thanks to all of you. You provided a terrific evening for a large number of people. Tibor Pavianski, program director, very effectively led the evening's entertainment. He noted that the WPA had contributed to the party. Tibor and his friend, Ilonka Nagy, read (in Hungarian) a very interesting Christmas story for children. We were very sorry that Stephen Szemes, former longtime coordinator of Branch 76, and his wife Elsie were unable to be at the meeting and party. They were greatly missed. Neither of them is in good health, and they would very much like to hear from their old friends. Their address is 428 Maplewood Road, Springfield, PA 19064-2092. Their 14 Main Nn tile, January 2001
