We wish you all many more. Please remember in your prayers our deceased members Elizabeth and Lawrence Shaffer, the Rev. Walter Nehm and Louis Rosta. Remember also Betty Jacob, mother of Betty and John. Condolences also to A1 Stelkovics, former national secretary, on the death of his wife Mary. We will remember you all in our prayers. Our annual family Christmas party was held Dec. 12. It was our best ever. We had 47 children and 53 adults. Magician Don Meredith and Santa Gaber Mehi were second to none. The voices of Irene Korpák and Emma Collins got us all in the holiday mood. Our members brought mounds of desserts. Thank you to all our hard workers: the Holguins, Truesdells, Korpaks, Kantors, Poliskas, Houses, Emilia Blair and Rose Antal. We made it a super success. Thank also to the Matecki family. Our Charity-of-the- Month was Christnet. They operate warming centers all winter long at 30 different sites in the downriver area. They would appreciate any help they can get. If you would like to help, call them at (313) 291- 1221. Branch 18 distributed a dozen $20 gift certificates to the needy this year. Welcome new member Hazel Birkner. Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ by Evelyn B. Bodnar At our branch meeting Dec. 5, the following officers were elected for the coming year: the Rev. Dr. Joseph Bodnar, president; Ruth Vasvary, vice president; Evelyn B. Bodnar, secretary-treasurer; and Ernest Arvay and Bert Suldo, auditors. Our Christmas party was held at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church hall. We had lunch and were entertained by "Petals the Clown." Santa arrived with gifts for the children and listened to all their wishes for Christmas. Rev. Bodnar led us in the singing of carols, with Evelyn Bodnar accompanying the singers. Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed the fellowship. Our past treasurer, Kristine Sárközi, moved to Chicago. We will miss her and wish her good luck on her promotion with United Airlines. We thank the Home Office for the gifts, and we wish everyone a healthy, happy new year. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Happy 2000! Wishing all our readers a healthy, happy and prosperous new year. With the help of the Home Office, Branch 28 was able to host another successful and enjoyable Christmas party for the children of our branch. Entertainment was provided by the Aut Mori Grotto clowns, a volunteer group of men who perform in exchange for donations to help purchase health supplies for children of families in need. Santa (John Tollas) arrived to distribute gifts to the children and help draw the winning raffle tickets for the children and the 50/50 drawing for adults. A raffle benefiting the WPA scholarship fund was held. The lucky winners were Brett Tollas, Rose Matasy and Margaret Sabo. The buffet table offered a delicious selection of foods provided by the branch and adult members in attendance. We thank the committee and members who helped to make this event a success. Left over gift items were donated to Tod Children's Hospital for distribution to their young patients. Following the party, a brief branch meeting was held to elect officers for the year 2000. Elected were: Steve Novak, president; Frank Schauer, vice president; Kathy Novak, secretary-treasurer; and Mary Schauer and Eugene Sakasits, auditors. Get well wishes go to all those under the weather, especially Joe Vizi and Eugene Sakasits. Best wishes to everyone celebrating a birthday or anniversary this month. We also express our sympathy to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one recently. For answers to your life insurance questions call Alan Szabó at (330) 432-7974. William hun lile.
