Tee off time will be 1:00 p.m. If you are looking for a great way to cool off this spring and summer, come to the club for air-conditioned comfort, refreshments and intriguing conversation. Until next time .... Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President Happy Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day will be celebrated this year on Sunday, May 10. It sure is good that America has set aside this day each year to honor our mothers. Only as we grow older do we fully realize how many sacrifices our mom has made for us. A mother shares so much, cares so much, and gives so much. May the good Lord shower all of you mothers and your families with many blessings. The branch will pay special honor to 15 members who will receive their 50-year membership pins at the May meeting. A social hour will follow. It will be a pleasure to meet some of our dedicated senior citizens who have stayed with the branch all these years. The branch is saddened by the death of longtime active member Robert D. Seymore, 79, who died March 23, 1998, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Seymore was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Altoona. He represented the branch through his work for the prison ministry at Blair County Prison. Bob was a member of the Legion of Mary, Third Order Secular Discaled Carmelites, and Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was also a foster grandparent with senior services. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church with interment at Calvary Cemetery. May his soul rest in peace. If you have any news that you wish to share with others, please call me at (814) 695-0213 and I’ll see that it gets published in the William Penn Life. For your life insurance needs, please call either me or Branch Coordinator Robert Jones at (814) 942-2661. Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 25. As we go to the cemeteries and pay honor to our loved ones, let us also remember those men and women in all past wars who have made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. We should be grateful to them for they gave up so much.
