April 1996, William Penn Life, Page 7 Columbus prepares to host golf tournament PITTSBURGH — The Home Office and members of Branch 129 Columbus are busy preparing the final details for the Association’s 13th Annual Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held Saturday, July 13, at the Turnberry Golf Course in Pickerington, Ohio, the site of the 1993 golf tournament. Accommodations for all golfers and guests will be at the Holiday Inn-Columbus East, located off Interstate 70 and Hamilton Road. Complete information, as well as an entry form for golfers, will appear in next month’s issue of the William Penn Life. In the meantime, branches are urged to canvass their membership for those interested in playing in the tournament and begin arranging their foursomes. It promises to be a fun, fraternal weekend for all who attend. The weekend will begin Friday, July 12, with the annual golfers reception at the hotel. The evening will feature a buffet and refreshments and the popular putting contest for the benefit of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation, Inc. The 18-hole tournament will be played the next day. Along the course golfers will participate in various skill shot contests. They will also have the chance to win a new car in the Hole-In-One contest by scoring an ace on the designated par-3 hole. The weekend’s activities will conclude with the annual golf awards dinner, to be held Saturday evening at the Holiday Inn. The evening will include a door prize drawing and the fun and exciting auction raffle for a new set of golf clubs and bag. The door prize drawing will be open to all guests attending the dinner. However, to be eligible to participate in the auction raffle and the Hole-ln-One contest, you must be a life benefit member of the William Penn Association as of June 1, 1996, with at least one year’s premium paid. Those planning to golf or attend the dinner, and who are not life benefit members, should contact their local William Penn representative or branch coordinator and enroll in one of our valuable life insurance plans. You will not only be providing your loved ones with added financial security, but also be making yourself eligible to participate in all the fun of the tournament weekend. Golfers will have the chance to practice on the Turnberry course on Friday. The Association has reserved tee times on the course for that day. More details on how to reserve times for Friday will be announced soon.
