This wonderful fraternal spirit has made the job of president of Branch 51a pleasure, he said. Entertainment for the party was provided by Peppi the Clown who performed many magic tricks which amazed both the children and the adults. The audience participated in many of the tricks. The children screamed and shouted with joy throughout the entire performance. Everyone was asked to join in the singing of Christmas songs from the carol books provided by the Home Office. Under the direction of Christine and Katie Mozer, many songs were sung. The holiday songs put the children in the proper mood for a visit from Santa, who entered the room to the singing of "Jingle Bells.” The oh’s and ah’s of the smiling children greeted Santa (Wendel Einholz) and his hearty ho-hoho. As he rang his bell, the children grew even more excited and anxious to tell him personally what they each wanted for Christmas. As each one sat on Santa’s lap they were asked what they would like to have Santa bring them on Christmas Day. Their requests seemed endless. As each one left Santa, he gave them a gift. President Barillo helped Santa in handing out the coloring books and crayons sent by the Home Office. Pens and calendars for 1992 were given to the adults in attendance. At the conclusion of Santa’s visit, President Barillo asked the members to stay for refreshments and to continue to enjoy themselves with their children, friends and relatives. As usual, many thanks to the Home Office for all its assistance in making this affair the success that it always is each year. All were wished a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthful New Year. Branch 71 Duquesne, PA Branch 89 Homestead, PA By Ruth D. Toth Branch 89 Secretary On Sunday, Dec. 8, Branch 89 Homestead and Branch 71 Duquesne held a combined family Christmas party at the Homeville Fire Hall in West Mifflin. National President E. E. Vargo welcomed and addressed the members. He introduced National Director Elmer W. Toth, National Secretary Emeritus Gus G. Nagy and former National Director William C. Kohut. Also in attendance was President Vargo’s wife, Betty. Entertainment was provided by Jahinie Productions. The clown-magician kept the children in awe even as they participated in the acts. Everyone enjoyed the entertainment. While awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus, the audience sang Christmas carols led by some of the children. Santa came and distributed gifts to the children and adults. They were given bags of goodies upon entering the hall where a buffet table was prepared for all to enjoy. We were very hapy to see the wonderful turnout. Once again, we surpassed the previous year’s attendance.
