Continued from Page 7 Branch 249 Dayton, OH By Anne Marie Schmidt Branch 249 Secretary-Treasurer Our annual Christmas party was held Dec. 14 at St. Stephen’s Church hall and was, once again, an enjoyable evening. Branch officers, members and bowling league members joined in the festivities to create a holiday spirit. Our juvenile members marvelled at our special guest, Jingles the Clown (Terry Miller), who entertained them with balloon sculptures and special stories to go with them. Thanks to all who helped with the many preparations and a special thanks to the ladies who prepared the wonderful sausage dinner and to those who donated the delicious Christmas cookies. The election of officers was held at our December meeting. Congratulations to all those who were reelected to another term in 1992: Steve Horvath, president; Frank Hoffer, first vice president; Anne Kertesz, second vice president; Anne Marie Schmidt, secretary-treasurer; and Mike Mayerchak and Barney Kender, auditors. Keep up the good work. We invite all branch members to attend our next meeting which will be held Jan. 11 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Church hall. All deceased members and their families will be remembered in our thoughts and prayers this holiday season. The officers of Branch 249 would like to extend to all members their wishes for a Happy New Year. Branch 336 Harrisburg, PA By Zita Prowse Branch 336 Reporter The annual Christmas party of Branch 336 was held on Sunday, Dec. 15. What a time of fun and excitement for the children! Zembo Shrine clowns entertained the children with characters made out of balloons and with Christmas carols while all awaited the arrival of Santa Claus. Hot dogs, chips, cookies, ice cream and soft drinks were served. Each child also received a gift and a stocking full of goodies from Santa. This past holiday season, our branch once again participated in the International Christmas Tree Exhibit at Strawberry Square in Harrisburg. The exhibit features the Christmas traditions of many countries, including Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, England, Korea and Japan. Thb is the second year the exhibit has been at this location. It was located at the Pennsylvania Museum for three years prior to 1990. Only handmade ornaments adom the Hungarian tree, which was trimmed by Mrs. Otto Leonard and Betty Hobausz. Branch 525 Los Angeles, CA By Schorlis Gotz Branch 525 Secretary On Dec. 1 Branch 525 held its annual Christmas party in conjunction with the Hungarian Club in Bloomington, Calif. The feeling of Christmas was inside all who joined us for this joyous occasion. The children waited in anticipation for the arrival of Santa and the "Old Krampus” (played by Branch President John Balint). After the singing of "Here Comes Santa Claus,” old St. Nick appeared to the cheers and smiling faces of the children—and adults! Each child received a silver dollar and a Christmas stocking filled with goodies from the William Penn Home Office. Our adult members received the 1992 calendar and song books. Santa distributed these gifts with the help of the Old Krampus and Branch Coordinator Andrew Gotz. We all enjoyed the kolbász dinner served by the club, as well as the wonderful music for our listening and dancing pleasure. We also held our monthly meeting and elected branch officers for 1992. Our new officers are: George Papp, president; Schorlis Gotz, vice president-secretary; Andrew Gotz, treasurer; and John and Margaret Balint, auditors. With the coming of the new year, let’s all try to recruit new members. Call our branch coordinator, Andrew Gotz, for help with all your insurance needs at (714)985-6826. May the new year bring you and yours peace and happiness. Branch 590 Cape Coral, FL By Joan Mauerman Branch 590 Reporter Branch 590 held its Christmas party and election of officers on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Athens by Night restaurant in Cape Coral. Reelected for another one-year term were: Irene Redden, president; Rose Darab, vice presidentsecretary; and Betty Bartus, treasurer. They were installed by National Director Michael Tomcsak of Lakeland. The invocation was offered by the Rev. Eugene Fekete of St. Andrew’s Church in Cape Coral. As we gave thanks for the blessings we share, our branch remembered those less fortunate by donating three Christmas baskets to the needy. Among those we were happy to see in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. William Troll of Bonita Springs, former National President Julius Macker, and Andre Dojcsak. We hope to see them at future meetings. We bid a sad farewell to Mary Werrlein of Lehigh Acres who is moving back to Cleveland. She will be missed by all. Our next meeting will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Egret Hall in Cape Coral. We welcome all members of Branch 590 to this meeting to help us plan our itinerary for 1992. We would like your input. We also invite would-be members to this and future meetings and observe the fraternal spirit at work firsthand. Our condolences to Johannah Szőke whose husband, the Rev. Stephen Szőke, passed away Dec. 19, 1991, in Lakeland. Rev. Szőke was the pastor of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church of Lakeland.
