Continued from Page 6 contributing generously to the Drive to Aid the Refugees of Yugoslavia. We would also like to extend our gratitude to those from our branch, St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and the Hungarian Reformed Church who donated their time to organize and promote this fund-raiser. We would like to extend our special thanks to Bela Bognár, the professor at Wright State University in Dayton, who is responsible for recruiting the organizations which assisted in this effort. In addition, we thank Mike Mayerchak, Bernard Kender, Jack Schweizer and Ann Kertesz for generously donating their time to promoting and organizing this event. Our bowling league is off to a great start. Leading our league are the teams of Anne Marie and Mark Schmidt and Paulette and Larry Reed. Good luck to all. Congratulations to Bruce Miller who bowled a 300 game before the Christmas holidays. Way to go! Our branch is currently making preparations for hosting the national bowling tournament this May. We are looking forward to this event. We will keep you posted as the details of the tournament are finalized. Branch 296 Springdale, PA By Ron Balia Branch 296 President We, the members of Branch 296 Springdale, mourn the death of our fraternal brother, Elmer Charles. He was extremely proud of his Hungarian heritage, his church and his family. Elmer was a good man and a good friend. Our deepest sympathy goes to his wife Marie and all his family members. He will be remembered by all of us as a true Hungarian and a man of great accomplishments. He left us with so many good memories that he will never be forgotten. Branch 296 members are planning a trip to Atlantic City on March 15. Any member interested in this trip should attend the next branch meeting scheduled for Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. A spokesman for the trip will be at the meeting to sell tickets and explain details of the trip. We urge all members to attend our branch meetings. Bring a guest and join us in our fraternal efforts. Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA By Dianne A. Charles Branch 352 Reporter On Saturday, Dec. 7, Branch 352 held its annual family Christmas party. Guests were greeted by our branch officers. President George S. Charles Jr. extended Christmas greetings to everyone. We thank National President E. E. Vargo and his wife Betty and National Auditor Charles Furedy and his wife Ruth for attending our party. Entertainment was provided by The Amazing Doc who performed many magic tricks and truly did amaze us all. We also enjoyed a sing-along led by President Charles and Debbie Evans. And, last but not least, we had a special visitor: Santa Claus. He delighted each child with candy and a box filled with toys. The food was delicious, and the cakes and cookies were a treat for all of us. A very special thank you goes to all who brought nonperishable items and canned goods to the party. Our three holiday boxes were beautiful and very much appreciated by those receiving them. Once again, our branch members have shown their love for others and their support for a good cause. Also, a big thank you goes to all branch members and friends who donated their time and love in making our party such a great success. We also thank the Board of Directors, National Officers and Home Office employees for their time and kind party allotment. Following our party we held our annual election of officers. Branch officers unanimously elected for 1992 were: George S. Charles Jr., president; James Deak, vice president; Frances A. Furedy, secretary; Elmer A. Furedy, treasurer; and Albert Furedy and Juliann Kwasneski, auditors. Congratulations to all. Our thanks to Jim Deak for coordinating the recent branch raffle. We appreciate the time and effort spent to help raise funds for our branch. Winners in the raffle were J. Kolesar, Bev McGlynn, Eileen Rapino, Punky and Dave Banyas Jr. We would like to welcome the following new members to our branch: Ryan Boytim, Kathryn Eveges, Jeffrey Fornataro, Amada R. Greineisen, Will Jackson, Daniel Legier, Kimberly Legier, Valerie Lovász, Kimberly Parme and Lindsey Rodwick. Congratulations to National President Vargo for being named recipient of the 1992 Fraternalist of the Year Award by the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh. We at Branch 352 are proud of you. Happy birthday wishes to all branch members celebrating their special day in February. If you have news you would like to share with us, write to Dianne A. Charles, 2027 Sunnydale Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15243, or call (412) 221-5136. Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President Our branch held its first meeting of the new year on Jan. 7 in the social hall of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. We had a very nice meeting. Everyone was happy to meet member Ray Stoltz who expressed a desire to start attending the meetings each month. To you, Ray, we say that you are most, most welcome. We would like our fellow branch members to be aware of the findings published in the 1991 report of Standard Analytical Service, Inc. This report rated the William Penn Association above the 25 largest life insurance companies in America in terms of the solvency of the society. This report proves that the financial condition of our Association is very good, and that we should all be confident in the stability of the William Penn. Thanks go to those who are leading and guiding our Association. The officers of Branch 800 wish to congratulate all of our members celebrating their birthday or wedding anniversary during the month of February. Happy Valentine’s Day to all on Feb. 14.
