July 1991, William Penn Life, Page 7 Branch News Members of Branch 590 recently gathered at the Naples (Fla.) Dinner Theatre for dinner and a performance of "Hello Dolly.” Continued from Page 5 on July 28 is an event you will want to mark on your calendar. It is sure to be a fun-filled time for the whole family. Of course, Branch 352 members will be right there to help out. We’re sponsoring a variety of booths that include instant bingo, face painting, putt-putt golf, a flea market and lemonade, iced tea and popcorn. So bring your family and enjoy the day. All proceeds will benefit the elderly residents at the Home. We hope to see you there. Happy anniversary to Fred and Patti Jackson of Upper St. Clair, celebrating July 28. Also celebrating anniversaries are Beverly and Bill Pini and Lou and Theresa Petrone. Our best wishes to all of you. Belated anniversary wishes to Clarence and Mariänne Eveges who celebrated June 21. We welcome new juvenile member Michael S. Beckwith of Library to our branch. We hope to see you and your parents, Corinne and Steve, at our branch activities. If you have branch news, please contact Dianne A. Charles at 221-5136. Branch 590 Cape Coral, FL By Joan Mauerman Branch 590 Reporter Many Branch 590 members attended the election meeting of Delegate District 0036 held May 5 at the Egret Hall in Cape Coral, Fla. District Chairman Michael Tomcsak appointed Joan Mauerman as secretary for the election meeting. The official results of the election will appear in the August issue of the William Penn Life. After the elections, Branch 590 held a branch meeting at which three new branch auditors were elected: Elizabeth Posey, Violet Timmer and Vilma Molnár. During our branch meeting we also discussed plans for a boat excursion. Branch President Irene Redden is in charge of arrangements and will contact members when further information is available. The dinner that followed our meeting was prepared by Joan Mauerman, and the delicious homemade pastries were made by Betty Bartus, Rose Darab and Elizabeth Posey. Get well wishes were extended to Pauline Troll of Bonita Springs and Julius Molnár of Cape Coral. Members are still talking about the wonderful show and dinner we enjoyed April 7 at the Naples Dinner Theatre. The performance of "Hello Dolly” was equal to any seen in New York. We are looking forward to another show in the near future. Our thanks to Betty Bartus who was in charge of arrangements. A note of interest: the movie "Coup De Vilié,” starring Alan Alda, was filmed, in part, at the Cape Coral home of Branch Treasurer Betty Bartus. Betty and Bill actually moved into a motel while the film was being made. Betty said Alda was the nicest person and a real gentleman. JOHNSTOWN, PA — The William Penn Association and Branch 8 Johnstown were saddened by the loss of Branch Treasurer Steve Petruska, Jr., who passed away June 11, 1991. He was 67. A lifelong resident of Johnstown, Mr. Petruska was born Dec. 16, 1923, the son of the late Steve Petruska and Gizella Varga. He was an employee of the Bethlehem Steel Company for 37 years before his retirement in 1979 and a member of St. Emerich’s Church in the Cambria City section of Johnstown. An Illustrious Member of the Association, Mr. Petruska was named branch manager of the Johnstown branch of the Verhovay Fraternal Insurance Association in 1951 and continued to serve in that position for many years after the Verhovay/Rákóczi merger in 1955. He also served as branch treasurer for many years and was a delegate at several General Conventions. Mr. Petruska will be remembered as a dedicated promoter of fraternalism and the Association and as a tireles worker for his branch. Over his many years as a part-time agent, he enrolled many new members into the William Penn and Branch 8. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Julius. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Vera (Zugrovics); a son, Michael; three daughters, Mary Groshans, Jenny and Elaine; four grandchildren; and a brother, Andrew. May he rest in peace. We ask our fellow members to pray for the eternal rest of Mr. Petruska and all our recently departed members listed below: JUNE 1991 0001 BRIDGEPORT, CT Kathleen D. Cunningham Alfred A.
