George returned home, still suffering from paralysis in his right arm and leg and unable to return to work for the William Penn. Unfortunately, George will not receive any aid to cover his medical and hospital expenses. The insurance coverage provided to employees of the William Penn becomes effective 90 days after the day the employee is hired; George had worked just two weeks short of 90 days when he had his stroke. Now the Furedys face an uncertain future. Unable to find work, a family of five will have a hard time picking up the pieces and surviving without some kind of help. So, we appeal to the family of William Penn members to help a family of your fellow members through this time of hardship by contributing as much as you can to the William Penn’s "George Furedy Family Fund.” Donations should be made payable to the "William Penn Association.” Please note on your check that the money is to be placed in the George Furedy Family Fund. All donations should be sent to: William Penn Association, 709 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15233. Your donations will be greatly appreciated by George Furedy and his family. Meeting delegates elect Var go to NFC A board PITTSBURGH — National Secretary E. E. (Al) Vargo was elected to a seat on the National Fraternal Congress of America’s Board of Directors during the NFCA’s annual meeting in September. Delegates to the NFCA meeting also elected Mr. Vargo to a one-year term as president of the Secretaries Section. His term on the NFCA board of directors will last for three years. Both of the NFCA positions are voluntary positions, and Mr. Vargo will continue to serve full-time as the Association’s national secretary. Over the past year, Mr. Vargo served as president of both the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress and the New Jersey Fraternal Congress. Both of these terms expired in October. Previously, Mr. Vargo has served on various National Fraternal Congress committees, including the membership committee, state fraternal congress section, family committee, and general sessions committee. His involvement is part of the William Penn’s tradition of active service in the national and state fraternal congresses. Welcome To Our Fraternal Family ALISHA R.
