The observance of a special FIC month honors the contributions made by fraternal insurance counselors towards both the fraternal benefit system and their chosen profession. Fraternal insurance counselors have been key builders of the fraternal benefit system’s growth and progress over the last 49 years. They have established and maintained high standards of ethical conduct in the profession of selling, underwriting and servicing fraternal life insurance. Fraternal insurance counselors continuously strive to increase their knowledge of legal reserve life insurance, enabling them to render better service to members of their societies and to develop more successful sales methods. Through the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors and its state chapters, FICs have the opportunity to exchange ideas with leading fraternal field representatives. They also endeavor to share their experiences and knowledge of fraternal life underwriting with all such field representatives. The dedication of fraternal insurance counselors to the principles of fraternalism provides major impetus to the fraternal benefit system to create a better fraternal world. In proclaiming May as FIC Month, NFCA President F. L. Spanier urged all fraternalists throughout the United States and Canada to join with him in heralding the accomplishments of our fraternal insurance counselors and to note our appreciation with pride. "Our fraternal insurance counselors are at the heart of our organizations,” Mr. Spanier said. "They must be successful for our organizations to be successful. They must encourage and foster the kind of fraternal programs and activities that have made us the strong contributors to society that we are.” "Our fraternal insurance counselors deserve our gratitude and any attention we can provide for them,” he said.
