Branch 51 Passaic, N.J. ' By ERNEST MOZER Branch Manager With the advent of the fall season, Branch 51 is already making plans for its annual election of officers and the annual family Christmas party. Both events will be held on December 1, the election at 2 p.m. and the party at 3 p.m. Entertainment for the party will be the appearance of Bob Conrad, recognized nationally as one of the foremost puppet masters of this era. As a youth he studied with the renowned Bill Baird and is now regarded as the master teacher himself. He will entertain with puppets, magic and ventriloquism. This promises to be a Christmas party no one will want to miss and will surpass even last year’s outstanding event. So we’re asking all children to bring their parents, grandparents and cousins. The election and party will be held at the American-Hungarian Citizens Club at 21 New Schley Street in Garfield. Those who need directions on how to reach the American- Hungarian Club in Garfield need only to call (201) 471-9852 after 6 p.m. The branch extends its congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Baumgartner, of Elmwood Park, New Jersey on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. Joe is vicepresident and has served Branch 51 in countless ways for a number of years. Branch 48 New York, N.Y. Heartfelt sympathies of Branch 48 are extended to the family of Magdolna Melher, a longtime member of the William Penn Association, who died Wednesday, July 31. Mrs. Melher (Veres), was born in Borsod Megye Edeleny, Hungary and emigrated to the United States in 1901. She was wed to Stephen Melher in Passaic, New Jersey and he preceded her in death in 1933 when he was just 48. She is survived by seven of her eight children and they are István, Ilona, Janos, Rosa, Lajos, Zita and Julia; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Services were held at St. Stephen of Hungary Church in New York on August 3. 1985 Bowling Tournament Winners TEAM EVENT - HANDICAP MEN TEAM SCORE CITY BR.MONEY Downriver All Stars 3008 Detroit, Mi. #18$ 640 William Penn #16 — 2 2999 Perth Amboy, N.J.#16 390 Detroit #18 2961 Detroit, Mi. #18 195 Phoenixville Hungarian #2 2961 Phoenixville, Pa. #159 195 Five Aces 2944 New Kensington, Pa.#296 100 Holy Family 2933 Dayton, Oh. #249 90 William Penn zoo 2889 Detroit, Mi. #18 80 Verhovay #1 2886 Harrisburg, Pa. #336 70 Silver/Gold 2879 Dayton, Oh. #249 60 William Penn #16 — 1 2873 Perth Amboy N.J.#16 50 Men's #13 2870 Trenton, N.J. #13 40 Barbara Hair Galley 2849 Lincoln Park, Mi. #18 40 Buda Pests 2844 Dayton, Oh. #249 40 High Rollers #2 2843 Dayton, Oh. #249 40 Phoenixville Hungarian #1 2840 Phoenixville, Pa. #159 40 William Penn #2 2835 New Brunswick, N.J.#19 40 William Penn #1 2818 New Brunswick, N.J.#19 40 TOTAL$2150 TEAM SCRATCH Downriver All Stars 2795 Detroit, Mi. #18$ 150 DOUBLES HANDICAP NAME SCORE CITY BR.MONEY S. The number was 15 targets over average and just four short of an all-time record at the Mayville Gun Club. Individual scores were Mike and Steve Wald, 24, Darlene and Wayne Wagner 23 and Jack Lippert 25. They went in front of the pack, as a result of that win, with their fourth consecutive triumph without a loss. On July 28 eleven members of the Branch motored to Milwaukee County Stadium to see the Brewers play the Oakland A’s. The weather was good, but the results of the game were disappointing. The Brewers lost 5-2. A dinner followed later at the Fox and Hounds Restaurant in Hubertus Township. As John Lippert reports, “It was a long day, but one filled with fraternal spirit.” WOMEN TEAM EVENT — HANDICAP TEAM NAME SCORE CITY BR.MONEY Five Penn-ies 2586 Dayton, Oh. #249$ 350 Barbara Hair Galley 2579 Lincoln Park, Mi. #18 215 New York Gals 2525 New York, N.Y. #48 130 Happy Four Pack 2459 Youngstown, Oh. #28 100 Penn-ettes 2458 Dayton, Oh. #249 75 Happy Five 2450 Lincoln Park, Mi. #18 60 William Penn #226 2424 McKeesport, Pa. #226 50 Phoenixville Ladies 2419 Phoenixville, Pa. #159 50 One More Time 2389 Trenton, Mi. #18 40 Five Pennies 2362 Lincoln Park, Mi. #18 40 Gem City Five 2377 Dayton, Oh. #249 40 $1150 WOMEN S TEAM SCRATCH Five Penn-ies 2295 Dayton, Oh. #249$ 150 DOUBLES HANDICAP NAME SCORE CITY BR.MONEY M.
