IN MEMÓRIÁM The official William Penn family was saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Joseph Pollack, June 28, 1982 in South Norwalk, Connecticut. Mr. Pollack was one of the few remaining true pioneer Hungarian Fraternalists. He served as President of Branch 3, South Norwalk, Conn., for many years. He was one of the most active part-time organizers of the former Rákóczi Aid Association. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Society which merged with the American Hungarian Catholic Society, which only last year merged with the William Penn Association. Mr. Pollack was active in the St. Ladislaus Self Cultural Society and a lifetime parishoner of St. Ladislaus Hungarian R.C. Church. Mr. Pollack was born in Goncruszka Abauj Megye, Hungary, March 12, 1895. He migrated to the United States at age 16 in 1911 and settled in South Norwalk. Like so many Hungarians, he was a hatter by occupation but spent most of his working years as a landscape gardener. As so many Hungarians, he loved mother earth and toiled happily as a gardener. After his formal retirement, he enjoyed working in his own garden, and it was while working in the garden that he suffered his fatal heart attack. Mr. Pollack is survived by his widow, Veronica Kozma Pollack, one daughter, Mrs. Irene Bino, one granddaughter and a brother in Hungary. Lengen, retired Pastor; Rev. Edwin Burke, Pastor; and Rev. Stephen Balint, Assistant Pastor. We mourn the loss of our Fraternal Brother. Our sympathies are extended to the bereaved family and we pray that God grant Mr. Pollack eternal rest. Branch 1 3 Trenton, New Jersey The National Bowling Tournament in Clevelend, Ohio is now a pleasant memory. Congratulations are in order for the winning teams and also those dedicated bowlers, who once again participated in the tournament. Since June is the month for graduations, I would like to congratulate all those who graduated from high school or higher institutions of learning. James S. Radvany, who is a William Penn Scholarship recipient, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Radvany, of Trenton, N.J. graduated from Susquehanna University, cum laude, with a degree in accounting. He has accepted a position with the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand, in Philadelphia, Pa., who are one of the top eight accounting firms in the country. Branch 13 is very proud of all those faithful members, who are contributing to the William Penn Scholarship Fund through their premium billings. It is with donations such as yours, that our youth are better able to educate themselves. Thank you for being so generous and keep sending in those contributions. Being the reporter for Branch 13, I would appreciate if the members would send me some information that would be of interest to be published in the Penn Life magazine. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing a William Penn cookbook. It’s really a Great Cookbook. Our regular monthly meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month commencing at 2:00 P.M. at the American Hungarian Democratic Citizen’s Club on So. Clinton Ave., Trenton, N.J. For servicing of your insurance needs, contact Elsie H. Radvany, 2006 Yardley Road, Morrisville, Pa. 19067. Telephone No. (215) 295-2222. Fraternally yours, Elsie H. Radvany, Secretary 1 I cannot control the length of my life; however, I can control its width and depth. Mr. Pollack was buried from St. Ladislaus Church with a celebrated Mass. Celebrants were Msgr. James C. 1 These days, my biggest problem is trying to make the high cost of living cost less.
