(Continued from Page 9) Just a reminder that our regular monthly meetings are held the third Tuesday of every, month at St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Church Hall, Washington Street, Perth Amboy at 8:00 P.M. Michaelene Mirkovich Reporter Branch 1 8 Detroit, Michigan In the ' sue of the William Penn Life, we e looking forward to the “face lift’’ of our Social Club. At this writing the remodeling of the front of the club is done. It has an air of elegance with its beauty. The architect was Mr. Richard Priester, a member of our Social Club. The contractor was young Mr. Otto Ccrni of Ccrni Cabinet Shop—19280 Hannan Rd., New Boston, Mich., also a member of our club. Otto is quite an ambitious young man whom we are very proud of and also at this time want to congratulate Otto and his lovely wife of becoming parents of a beautiful little baby girl. The officials of the City of Lincoln Park, Michigan were so proud of our renovation that the Mayor of Lincoln Park, Mayor Charles Paddock, L. to R.: Irene Bartal, Lincoln Park City Clerk; Stephen Danko, President -Branch 18; Charles Paddock, Mayor of Lincoln Park; Julius Macker, National Past President. presented a proclamation to Stephen Danko, President of the William Penn Branch 18 recognizing the Club for remodeling and beautifying the front of its headquarters. The beautiful designing and making of the Hungarian emblem, the American emblem and the William Penn emblem was done by our outstanding artist and member of our Club, Mr. László Bcregszaszy. The “Wooden Platter” dinner on July 26th was a sellout, as usual. Many of us missed out—again. Maybe we could persuade Steve Szatmári to have another “Wooden Platter” dinner soon. How about it Steve? Bowling season is now in full swing. The pins are really flying. Rey Holguin, President of William Penn Branch 18 Bowling League states that at this writing some high scores were: Team high series—Thunderbowl Lanes 1961; Molnár Funeral Home 1910. Team High Game—William Penn Branch 18—699 and Thundcrbowl Lanes 678. Men’s High Series—Frank Kulikowski 607 and Virge Volpe 597. Men’s High Game—Rey Holguin 233 and Steve Honto 232. Gal’s High Series—Mary O’Connor 507 and Lucilc Almassy 499. Gal’s High Game—Betty Kocsis 213 and Lucile Almassy 197. How is that for bowling! Something different is scheduled at the William Penn Social Club. Our Hungarian dance group will be having a male fashion show sometime in the near future. Please call Darlene Szatmári at 381-9881 for further information. The card party of the Social dub held on September 22nd was a great success. The dessert of “palacsinta” was a surprise to all who attended and was enjoyed with great gusto! Many thanks to all who donated prizes and helped in anyway to make this card party a success. Special thanks to Betty Kocsis and Julia Danko for making all the palacsinta and to Mary J. Molnár for donating the admission tickets whereby our expense was considerably cut. Thanks again. The William Penn Branch 18 held a card party on November 10th which turned into a fun-filled evening for everyone. Something is always being planned at the William Penn Branch 18 Hungarian Social Club. The recent “Szüreti Bal” (Grape Festival dance) was a complete sell-out two weeks before the event. Decorations, excellent cusine, lively music and singing together with the dancers’ performance directed by Darlene Szatmári all made the day a wonderful evening. The decorations were done by our Club members who are experts at this. Mr. Frank Lezak was in his original Hungarian costume as Csősz, directing the dancers to catch the ones stealing the grapes and Mr. Julius Macker was the acting judge who fined the individuals that snatched the grapes. Also during the evening festivities an honorary life-time membership was presented to Mayor Charles Paddock of Lincoln Park, Michigan by Allen Park Mayor Frank Lada and also an honorary life-time membership was presented to Mr. Ernest Nagy, Publisher of the Melius Newspaper by Stephen G. Danko who was designated by the Branch 18 President Stephen Danko to convey the honors. Hungarian lessons are also in full swing. If you are interested please call Darlene Szatmári at 381-9881. Classes arc in session every Thursday evenings. We understand that Andy Toth, Vice-President of Branch 18 is turning his retirement into fun days with his grandchildren. Have you shown them the game of golf yet, Andy? Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe are the proud parents of a baby boy, David Michael, born on July 23, 1980. Mrs. Wolfe is the former Debbie Gall of the William Penn Dance Group. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe on your little bundle from heaven, and also a new member of William Penn Branch 18. 10
