60) National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics commenced to call the roll so the delegates may proceed to vote for Alternate Directors and Alternate Auditing Committee Members. After casting their ballots, delegates signed their travel expense statements and received their checks. 61) Following the completion of the balloting, the Elections Committee retired to count the ballots. 62) Mr. Charles informed the delegates that there were two sets of twins present at this convention. Mr. Elmer Toth, delegate, and Mr. John Toth; and Mary Ivancso, delegate, and Catherine Gall. 63) Mr. Charles also acknowledged the presence of László Kereszti, former Chairman of the Auditing Committee. 64) The Chairman of the Conven­tion next introduced Mr. Alex Debreczeni, Chairman of the Penn­sylvania Democratic Committee. 65) Mr. Debreczeni thanked Mr. Charles for the opportunity to address the delegates. He was happy to be pre­sent at this history-making convention. He recalled his earlier days when he and his father were active in Branch 85 of Daisytown, Pa. He participated in the Verhovay trip to Hungary in 1939 as a membership contest winner. He stated he was very proud of his heritage and always proud to state he is a Hungarian. He expressed his sincere thanks to Mr. Charles and the Associa­tion in supporting him for his present position of Democratic Committee Chairman. It brings him into contact with many important men of all backgrounds and affords him the op­portunity to work with them. He asked that we continue working for our heritage. The delegates applauded Mr. Debreczeni with a standing ovation. 66) Mr. Charles thanked Mr. Debreczeni for his inspiring remarks and pledged his continued support for him. 67) Mr. John McCarthy, Chairman of the Elections Committee, returned with the results of the election. The results of the election for Alternate Directors is as follows: (There were 113 ballots cast) (1) Elmer Toth, 68 votes; (2) Roger G. Nagy, 67 votes; (3) Frank J. Wukovits, Jr., 56 votes; (4) Joseph Ar­­vay, 55 votes; (5) Stephen G. Danko, 51 votes; (6) Mary Ivancso, 33 votes; (7) Barbara Banes Botkin, 32 votes; (8) Michael Tomcsak, 31 votes; (9) William J. Kovach, 28 votes; (10) Walter Stelkovis, 28 votes; (11) Steve Petruska, 26 votes; (12) Walter Bero, 19 votes. In compliance with by-laws provi­sion, in the event there is a vacancy on the Board, the alternate will be called in the order of the highest vote received at his election. 68) The results of the election for Alternate Auditing Committee Members was as follows: (There were 113 ballots cast, 1 ballot disqualified because four names were selected in­stead of three names only.) (1) James Katona, 76 votes; (2) Julius Yuhasz, 57 votes; (3) Anna Wash, 53 votes; Anthony C. Beke, 35 votes; Robert Stypa, 19 votes; Cindy Hartman, 17 votes. 69) Mr. McCarthy thanked the delegates for the orderly manner in which they conducted themselves dur­ing the election. 70) Mr. Charles thanked the Elec­tions Committee for the fine work they performed and discharged them with sincere thanks and appreciation. 71) It was moved, seconded and authourized by the delegates to destroy the election ballots. 72) President Charles recessed the meeting at 4:30 P.M. until 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 12, 1979. Stelkovics presented a proclamation to the National President, Elmer Charles, on behalf of Joseph Dudás, Mayor of the Village of Lakeline, Lake County, Ohio. Mr. Charles accepted the proc­lamation with deep appreciation. 75) Secretary of the Convention Frank J. Radvany read the Minutes of Tuesday’s meeting. It was moved, seconded and accepted by the delegates as corrected. 76) Stephen G. Danko, Chairman of the Resolutions Committee, thanked the members of the Resolu­tions Committee for the assistance they rendered in preparing the several Resolutions for presentation to the Convention. Members of the Commit­tee were Stephen G. Danko, Chair­man, Barbara Banes Botkin, Louis Jesso, Anthony Noel, Cindy Hartman and Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. 77) Cindy Hartman, Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. and Barbara Banes Botkin, presented the following Report of the Resolutions Committee: REPORT OF THE RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE Mr. Chairman, Officers and Delegates! The Resolutions Committee submits the following as its report of recom­mended resolutions to be adopted by the Convention: WHEREAS, Rev. Nicholas Novak, Pastor, United Church of Christ, Hazelwood, Pa. participated in our opening ceremonies invoking God’s blessing, and adding dignity and reverence to our meeting, NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that we ex­tend our sincere and grateful thanks to Rev. Nicholas Novak who gave the in­vocation at our opening session, and WHEREAS, in the opening ceremonies of the Convention, and the banquet Mr. Stephen T. Szilagyi and George S. Charles, Jr. led the delegates in singing of the National Anthem and Magyar Himnusz. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the General Conven­tion does thank these two for their presentations. WHEREAS, the Honorable Richard Caliguiri, Mayor of Pittsburgh ex­tended an official welcome to the City of Pittsburgh, and WHEREAS, Mr. Julius Macker, Past National President and Julius E. Somogyi, retired Treasurer extended greetings to the Convention members. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that our thanks be ex­pressed to Mayor Caliguiri, Mr. Macker, and Mr. Somogyi. WHEREAS, Rev. Nicholas Novak conducted a most beautiful and inspir­ing Memorial Service in memory of our deceased members, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Convention ex­press sincere thanks to Rev. Nicholas Novak for conducting a truly inspiring memorial service. WHEREAS, The President of the United States, Jimmie Carter, sent telegraphic greetings to the Conven­tion, and WHEREAS, Richard Thornburg, Governor of the Commonwealth of 29
