The Children’s Annual Christmas Party was held at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church Hall, Sunday afternoon December 3, 1978. Branch President Joseph Arvay welcomed one and all. He then introduced National Director Michael Hegedűs who greeted everyone and gave a short talk on the benefits of the William Penn Association Insurance Plans. Jonjie the Clown and his three year old son entertained, after which Rev. Joseph Bodnar led the children and parents in the singing of Christmas Carols until Santa arrived. Gifts and candy were distributed and refreshments served. All the Officers assisted in making the party a success. A sad note: Our former Santa (Edward Miller) who had given of his service for many years will be greatly missed. He passed away on November 25th, very suddenly. The election of Officers was held on Monday, December 4, 1978 with all incumbents being re-elected after which National Director Michael Hegedűs conducted the installation. The popular belief was that birds began to pair on February 14, making it a popular occasion for sending tokens of love. Tire tokens took their name from the saint of the day, a third century priest named Valentine. 7
