Branch 132 South Bend, Indiana Branch 132 Officers election was held on Friday, December 8, 1978. Elected to office were the following: Frank J. Wukovits, Sr., President; Paul Varga and Joseph Horvath, Vice Presidents; Alex J. Horvath, Record­ing Secretary; Frank J. Wukovits, Jr., Treasurer; Bela Hupka, Theodore E. Kruszka, Jr. and Michael J. Pécsi, Auditing Committee. During 1979 the Branch meetings will be held the second Friday of the month at 7:00 P.M. in the William Penn Home in South Bend, Indiana. The Annual Children’s Christmas Party was held on Saturday afternoon on December 16, 1978, starting at 2:00 P.M. The Children’s Christmas program opened with National Director, Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. giving the usual greetings on behalf of the Home Office and Branch 132 Officers and Directors. The program started as usual with the singing of Christmas carols, led by Miss Kathy and Karen Wukovits, and Mary C. Manning, who were accom­panied on the piano by Mrs. Isabel Hupka. Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. fol­lowed up by showing a Christmas movie, after which Christmas carols were sung until the arrival of Santa Claus. The children received candy filled stockings and choice of toys or games. This was followed by the ladies and men serving goodies of pop, ice cream, potato chips and other goodies to both children and parents. Mr. Arthur G. Wolford performed the duties of Santa. His helpers were Mrs. Helen V. Sabo, Mrs. Arthur Wolford, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Wukovits, Jr., Mr. Paul Varga, Mr. and Mrs. Bela Hupka. The Branch 132 Officers continue with the worthwhile project promoting the sale of the Cook Book “Treasured Hungarian Recipes” which are available at the William Penn Associa­tion, South Bend District Office, 1024 West Indiana Avenue, South Bend, In­diana 46613 or from the Officers. The total proceeds from the sale of these cookbooks will be donated to the William Penn Association Scholarship Foundation. Donation is $3.00 for each cookbook plus 50c charge for mailing each copy. Wukovits, Sr. Branch 1 89 Alliance, Ohio On December 2, 1978, the William Penn Athletic Club held their Annual Christmas Dinner-Dance at the home with 107 people in attendance. The evening consisted of a cocktail hour, T-bone steak dinner, and music by Wes Clark and his Orchestra. Special guests in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Szilagyi and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller. An enjoyable evening was had by all. On December 10, 1978 at our annual meeting the following Officers were elected for the year 1979: President, Mike Duruttya; Vice President, Karl Trumpeter; Secretary, John A. Barany; Treasurer, Zoltán Cibulas; Auditors, John F. Barany and Wilbur “Zac” Taylor; Consulting Auditor and Trustee, Michael Buzogány. The 48 members in attendance at the meeting gave a standing ovation and applause of appreciation to the 1978 Board of Directors: Louis Francis, Robert Hahlen, John Francis, Mike Buzogány and Zoltán Cibulas for their untiring efforts and good will done for Branch 189. Our Annual Children’s Christmas Party was held at the home on December 17, 1978 at 2 P.M. There were 60 children in attendance. Santa Clause greeted each child with a silver dollar and a bag of goodies. Ice cream, cupcakes, and pop was served as refreshments. The games were super­vised by Mike Duruttya, Mrs. Mike Duruttya 3rd, and Miss Laurie Young, with prizes to the winners. Also assisting in the entire program were the Board of Directors for the year 1979. The membership of Branch 189 wishes to extend their thanks and ap­preciation to the following house managers who served the Club faithfully during the year 1978: Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Amos; Mr. and Mrs. John Jones; and Mr. William Stieb. On December 18, 1978, Mr. Kevin Gazia and his mother, Mrs. Rosemary Gazia, took over the duties of the house manager for the year 1979. The Branch members and the Board of Directors of the Branch welcome them and extend to them their full coopera­tion for a successful and prosperous 1979. Cindy Cibulas Reporter Branch 214 Flint, Michigan We are sorry to start our report on a note of sadness, Mrs. George Varga, wife of Branch Manager George Varga passed away after a brief illness. Her passing has left a great void at our Branch because she was very active in all William Penn affairs, our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. • Our Branch held its election of Of­ficers Sunday, December 3, 1978 with the following results: President, Mar­ton Nadasi; Vice President, Louis Sipos; Treasurer, George Varga; Auditor, Louis Toth. After the business meeting the Children’s Christmas Party was held. Unfortunately due to bad weather con­ditions, those members residing in the outlying areas could not attend, however it was decided that a gift would be sent to each child. The children attending and their parents en­joyed the afternoon’s festivities. There was group singing of carols, goodies for everyone and then Santa delivered each child a gift personally.
