Tenk, and her two daughters Elizabeth and Anna, Mrs. Vilma Varga. We were pleased to see our General Agent Mr. Fred Bceker present with his two daughters. On behalf of Branch 214 Officers and members we wish you all a Happy New Year! Marton Nadasi President, Hr. 214 Branch 226 McKeesport, Pa. Election of Officers for 1979 took place at cur regular Branch meeting held December 1978, with the following results: President, Louis L. Siebert; Vice President, John Sabo; Secretary, Edward Rietski; Treasurer and Publicity, Violet B. Lenart; Auditors, Elizabeth Buck and Ethel Sabo. The Annual Christmas Party for the children of the following Branches -226-McKeesport; 71-Duquesne; 89-Homestead; 34-Pittsburgh; 352- Coraopolis; and 39-Beaver Falls - was held on Sunday, December 3, at 4:00 P.M. in the Duquesne Golf Club in West Mifflin. Although it was a dreary, rainy day, and we had to compete with the Steeler Game, the attendance was good. Many of the children brought their parents and grandparents so that a wonderful atmosphere of “Family” prevailed. Entertainment consisted of the singing of Christmas Carols, and the appearance of a very talented young magician, Victor DeMarco and his lovely assistant. The children were really captivated with his mysterious feats of magic and, not only were the children overwhelmed with DeMarco, but the grown-ups enjoyed him equally as well. Refreshments were served and then the big event—Santa Claus arrived, cheerful and bouncy as ever. Each child visited with Santa and received a box of chocolates and a shiny silver dollar. This year, the Christmas Party was really great, but most important of all, the faces of the children reflected their total enjoyment. The Officers of the participating branches were present to assist in making this a successful venture. As in the past, following the children’s party, the officers and adult members of our branches remained and enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Club in the spirit of true fraternal fellowship. We hope that this fine cooperation and working relationship displayed by our local branches will become an incentive and tradition to continue for many years. 1 would be remiss if I did not mention that our Scholarship Foundation Dinner-Dance, held on November 3 at the Churchill Valley Country Club, was well attended and most successful not only from the standpoint of entertainment, but also in helping our Scholarship Fund to grow from proceeds derived through such an affair. All present dined and danced and enjoyed themselves immensely. This, too, has become a very popular annual event. As we approach the beginning of another year, it is our pleasure to extend to all members of our Association a New Year abundant with happiness and good health, and now, let us believe in the New Year that is given us—new, untouched, full of things that have never been. Violet B. Lenart * # * Best Be Brief “He gave the best speech so far.” “Really? What was it about?” “About two minutes.” Branch 249 Dayton, Ohio The year 1978 has been a successful one for our Branch. We sponsored a sausage sale in April. During the National Bowling Tournament in May our Branch was represented in the bowling competition. Congratulations to Margaret Horvath for bringing home a trophy as a member of the Women’s 1st Place Team. In October we were honored with the presence of Vice President of Marketing, Stephen T. Szilagyi in our city to attend the annual Fall Dance of the Magyar Club of Dayton. Mr. Szilagyi was able to renew acquaintances with many of his Cincinnati friends. We certainly welcome more Cincinnatians to be William Penn members. At our December meeting the following were re-elected as Branch Officers: President, John Motko; Vice President, John Dúsak; Vice President of Fraternal Affairs, Steve Horvath; Secretary-Treasurer, Anne Kertesz; Auditors, Frank Hoffer and Mike Mayerchak. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the National Officers and Board of Directors for providing financial support for our juvenile members Christmas party. Without their assistance we could not promote this yearly affair. Cook books are still available and can be obtained by calling any of the Branch Officers. We will be sponsoring a Fish Fry on Friday March 30th from 6 until 12 (Continued on Page 14) 13
