Many thanks to Mrs. Rose Orris for the beautiful Christmas tree, Mrs. Barbara Horner for preparing the refreshments and Steve Gall III for the help he gave his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Steve Gall, Sr. in the general clean-up after the party, and especially to Mr. John Orris, who substituted for Santa Claus. The annual children’s Christmas Party was held on Saturday, December 10th starting at 2:00 P.M. Despite the bad snow storm the representation by the children and their parents was very satisfactory. The Christmas program opened with National Director, Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. giving the usual greetings in behalf of the William Penn Home Office and Branch 132. Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. followed by showing a Christmas movie after which singing followed until the arrival of Santa, giving the children candy stockings and a choice of nice gifts. Twenty-nine children attended, all total 51 with the adults. Part of the children left before we could take the pictures. Mrs. Santa Claus was invited to entertain the children with games and magic, even the adults enjoyed it as much as the children. The parents and children thank the Branch Manager and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Varga, for putting on the Christmas party. And thanks to the workers who help us year after year. The parents and children are sending a special thanks to the Board of Directors and the Home Office for their generosity. Fraternally yours, George Varga Branch 226 McKeesport, Pa. It is with heavy heart that we at Branch 226 bid farewell to one of our loyal and active members - Mrs. Margaret Linderman - who will be moving to Florida in November to reside in the home of her son Lt. Colonel Robert L. Joczik. On Sunday, October 23, the Officers of Branch 226, together with some of Margaret’s friends, gathered to honor her at a farewell dinner held at the Youghiogheny Country Club. The excellent dinner and fine fellowship enjoyed by all was really climaxed when Margaret was surprised with a beautiful gold necklace presented to her, on behalf of all present, by her close friend, Mrs. Ethel Sabo. We know the gift will be treasured by Margaret as a token of our esteem, friendship and appreciation for her many years of active service to our Branch. No task was ever too big or too small for Margaret to handle, when it meant serving the Branch. We all wish her God-speed, good health, and much happiness which we know she will enjoy in her new home with her lovely family. Election of Officers for 1978 took place at our regular Branch meeting held on Sunday, November 27, with the following results: President-Louis Sieben; Vice President-John Sabo; Secretary-Edward Rietski; Treasurer and Publicity-Violet B. Lenart, and Auditors-Ethel H. Sabo and Elizabeth Buck. A very successful Christmas Party for the children of Branch 226, McKeesport; Branch 71 Duquesne; Branch 89 Homestead; Branch 34 Pittsburgh; Branch 352 Corapolis and Mr. Louis Siebert, President of Branch 226 toasting Margaret Linderman with Vice President John Sabo and Secretary Ed Rietski. 16
