Home Office Visitors From Hungary The Home Office recently welcomed from Hungary Dr. Zoltán Sabo, Secretary of the Magyarok Vilagszovetsege and Mrs. Imre Varga his assisstant. These two people have arranged the land tours in Hungary for the William Penn Association and have made many other arrangements as far as lodging and enjoying Hungarian life. They have been particularly helpful to both William Penn Tours to Hungary and on their visit to the United States wanted to pay their respects to the Officers of the William Penn Association. Pictured below is Dr. Sabo, National President Charles and Mrs. Varga presenting to the William Penn Association a Herendi porcelain statue of a Hungarian Huszar. Also shown is Dr. Sabo, Mr. Charles, National Secretary Stelkovics and Mrs. Varga who were given gifts of Lenox China to take back to Hungary with them. Also presenting to Dr. Sabo by National Secretary Stelkovics was a book on the history of Pittsburgh written by a Hungarian Stefan Lorant. Unfortunately our visitors could only spend a few hours with us because they had a heavy schedule touring the various parts of the United States. We look forward to meeting them in Budapest sometime in August when the third William Penn Tour arrives in that country. EULOGY FOR MARGARET VASSY I have been requested by Elmer Charles, President of the William Penn Association, to extend his deepest condolences to the family of Margaret Vassy—to the John Demeter Family—the Dr. Gene Vassy Family and to the sisters of Margaret and their families; and to represent our Association in sharing with you a few thoughts on this most sad occasion. With a sorrow planted deeply in our hearts, we are assembled here today, to pay final homage, and say our last farewell to Margaret Vassy, whom we have known, and loved, and worked with, for many, many years. This should be one of the most joyous times of the year, as we awaited the anniversary date of the birth of our Christ Child. But instead, our lives were saddened by the untimely death of Margaret. The Good Lord has taken Margaret away from us as His own special Christmas present. And now we suddenly realize what an immense void she has left behind her. Surely there has been an angel in our midst. It was such a short time ago that we enjoyed together, with Margaret, the fruits of life. Her very presence created a vibrant atmosphere. But, where there is a beginning, there must be an end. Life is birth, but also life brings death. This is our fate. We cannot change it. For this is God’s Will, and in the words of the Bible, “God’s Will Be Done.” Lord, give her the rewards of goodness. Our memories of Margaret will not wither, for they are guarded closely and deeply in our minds, and in our hearts. For many years Margaret carried the banners of the William Penn Association, as Manager of Branch 249, proclaiming her own true faith in benevolence and goodwill to all. In recent years, she has dedicated her life to the compassion, and the consolation, and the well being of her beloved husband Louis, who at the moment lies wracked with pain wondering WHY, WHY? The answer may best be found within ourselves. Let there be faith in our soul, comfort and infinite trust in our God Almighty for he has called Margaret to join him in the everlasting life. Lord may she have eternal rest, as she journeys to her eternal reward. Margaret was a kind and loving and dutiful wife, mother, and grandmother. Inconsiderate of herself, so long as she made life here on earth more pleasant to those she came in (Continued on Page 19) Dr. Sabo, Mr. Charles, National Secretary Stelkovics and Mrs. Varga who were given gifts of Lenox China to take back to Hungary with them. 7
