4 Bicentennial Tour To Hungary A Complete Success William Penn group being welcomed and greeted at Ferihegy airport, Budapest, by officers of the Magyarok Vilagszovetsege. Tuesday, August 17, 1976, will remain a memorable day for the 180 William Penn members who participated in the Bicentennial Tour to Hungary. The International Departure lounge at the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport became a beehive of activity around 5:00 P.M. that day, when William Penn members from various parts of the country arrived to prepare for their flight to Europe. Early arrivals were the group from Connecticut, then later a plane load from Detroit area led by Stephen Danko, Tour Administrator, the Pittsburgh area members led by Tour Administrators John P. Balia and William C. Kohut, and finally the largest contingent by bus from the Dayton, Ohio area led by Tour Administrator Albert G. Kertesz. Excitement l'an high as suitcase after suitcase began piling up on the floor waiting for the desk to open so passengers could check in their luggage. To most of us this was the first experience in overseas travel, and naturally there were many questions and anxieties as to The Board of Directors have always supported, financially, the Children’s Christmas Parties at the Branches. They enthusiastically urge all Branches to arrange for this great fraternal activity. The Board is aware of the fact that it requires a sacrifice on the part of Branch Officers to perform all the work necessary in connection with these parties, however, the joy it brings our young members is well worth the effort. Members are urged to attend meetings of their respective Branches and help to formulate plans and to offer their time to make these successful. Branch Managers already have received letters outlining procedures to follow for obtaining carol books and printed invitations. Please see to it that these are returned to the Home Office by the first week of November. whether or not the baggage would be placed on the airplane. Actually, none of us should have had any worry because Miss Frances Furedy, Secretary to the National President, who had done most of the preliminary handling of the trip to Europe with the assistance of Marie Tady and RoseAnn Rapagna, was at the airport assisted by Mrs. Helen Werling, to make sure that everyone’s bag was properly tagged, checked all passports and made sure that everyone received the proper boarding pass and the check for the baggage. Working behind the counter was our genial friend, Ron Lombardo from the Mercur-Lombardo Agency, who certainly was most helpful to the Association in planning this trip. Last but not least, Mr. Salameh, the representative of Pan American World Airways was present to assist in what appeared to be an evening of confusion. It was a pleasure to see William Penn members from different parts of the country getting acquainted and very early, before the trip even started, making friendships which apparently will last throughout the years. As the flight time approached, and information came that the plane was not available as yet, anxiety increased, however, like good William Penn members everyone took things in stride and really showed a (Continued on Page Two) Notice To All Members Our By-Laws provide that at the November Branch meeting the Branch President appoint a Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee then makes its report to the December Branch meeting. Chapter XL Section 6 of the By-Laws provides that election of Branch Officers shall take place at the December meeting and those elected shall be installed into their respective offices at that same meeting. Members are respectfully requested to attend their Branch meetings, take an active part in the affairs of the Branch and if called upon to serve or to assist, be willing to do this for the good of the Branch, its members and the Association. With the cooperation of many, we can achieve wonders as a fraternal benefit society.
