Did you know that the year 1971 will commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the founding of our association? So let’s all get out and announce this to everyone and do your part in making our association grow to greater heights. That’s all for this issue and will give you more news in the Fall Issue. In the meantime, see you all at the Bowling Tournament and our Picnic as well. John P. Vespremi, Reporter 19 New Brunswick, N. J. TRIPLE WINNER IN SPEECH CONTESTS Karen P. Smith Karen P. Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of 55 Duke Street, New Brunswick, a senior representing New Brunswick High School has won 3 contests in the past 3 months. In February in the “Voice of Democracy” contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, she was awarded a certificate naming her “An Outstanding Spokesman for Freedom”, also a U. S. Savings Bond. In March in the “International Toastmistress” High School Speech Contest she took top honors and a U. S. Savings Bond. In April she was district winner of the “26th Annual Public Speaking Contest” of Friendship Lodge No. 30, Knights of Pythias. In May she will go into the State Finals at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City. “Good Luck, Karen!” 22 Roebling, N. J. Our Branch will hold its District Meeting for the purpose of electing a delegate and an alternate delegate to the 27th National Convention to be held in Pittsburgh, Pa., September 13, 1971. All members in good standing are invited to attend this meeting. Meeting will be held Tuesday evening, June 15, 1971 at 7:30 P. M. in Roebling Rescue Squad Hall, Hornberger and 2nd Aves., Roebling, N.J. Branch 22 will hold its First Annual Dinner-Dance on September 25, 1971 at 6:30 P. M. in Roebling, N. J. The following were elected: President, Mr. John Bunchy; Vice President, Jack Palmer; Secretary- Treasurer, Mrs. Ann Wash; Auditors, John Kaluczky, Mike Tomcsak and Mrs. Paul Toth. Mrs. Margaret Bunchy as your Reporter. Mary Tomcsak installed the elected officers. Remember our monthly meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at St. Stephens Hall, 854 Wilson Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio at 7:30 P. M. Our June meeting will have election of delegates to the Convention. As Tournament time draws near, our Sunday William Penn Mixed Doubles Bowlers have formed their teams, and hoping to see their old and meet new friends at the Tournament in Pittsburgh, Pa. Our Mixed Doubles Champs, first and second half winners are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Toth of Hubbard, Ohio. Our bowlers are certainly bowling over their heads and hoping to do the same in Pittsburgh. Mr. Takacs made his home with his son-in-law Emery Rendes who died two days before, (Takács bácsi), George Blasko family, Stockton, Calif., formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, Joseph Babos family, John Borsodi family of Youngstown, Ohio, Szakacs family of Lowellville, Ohio, (Peggy Sandors’ father) passed away at the age of 80 and on Feb. 15th her nephew John J. Gasper, 24 years of age died in National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Md., Frank Ambrusko family of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs. John Boncz family of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs. John Feher family of Hubbard, Ohio, Mrs. Louis (Cook) Sakas Sr. family and our Agent Manager A1 Buksar’s mother who died on Good Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital where she had been a patient five weeks. She leaves three sons, John J. Buksar of Youngstown, Louis N. Buksar of Warren, Ohio and our Agent Manager Mr. Buksar with whom she made her home, a daughter Mrs. Margaret Maceyko of Youngstown, Ohio and 10 grandchildren. Rest in Peace. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Milligan who celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary and spent three weeks on a Caribbean Cruise. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Marmarinos are making their home in St. Louis Missouri. Mrs. Marmarino is a member of Branch 28 and also a bowler and as I hear, she will be at the Bowling Tournament in Pittsburgh. We wish them Good Luck in St. Louis. Hoping Mr. George Nemeth is feeling better and back to work after 2 weeks stay at the North Side Hospital in March. Your reporter also was there 2 weeks the same time. Now wishing Sheryl Bunchy our daughter, a speedy recovery who is at North Side Hospital in traction. She said, “I’m still going to bowl at the Tournament in Pittsburgh.” Also wishing Mrs. Ann Motko of Dayton, Ohio a speedy recovery. Ann has been in the hospital since December. Surgery is to be done April 22nd. We shall miss Ann at the tournament. This reporter’s dream will come true after many years. On July 20th Mr. Bunchy and his tour will leave for Hungary and spend 35 days visiting and touring Hungary.
