phen, the first king of Hungary. In observance of this memorable event, Branch 18 and its members are planning on forming a group to fly to Budapest and pay homage to Hungary's first king. Arrangements are already being made with the airlines to secure a low rate for the flight. This trip will be made available for William Penn members only and if you are not yet a member and wish to make this trip, contact your nearest branch representative and sign up. Further plans and progress regarding this group program will be announced at our September meeting. From time to time, our monthly publication, William Penn Life, will also announce further details. Vespremi, Reporter 27 Toledo, Ohio Mr. and Mrs. Julius Kerekes, 143 Licking Street, Toledo, Ohio celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 1, 1969 with a dinner party at the Oregon Banquet Room, Oregon, Ohio. The couple were married June 1, 1919 in Janók, Czechoslovakia. Mr. Kerekes came to Toledo in 1923, and after becoming a citizen, brought his family here in 1928. He is a retired employee of the city street division. Their marriage was blessed with three children, a son, Julius, and two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Weller, of Toledo, and Mrs. Jack Munger of Whittier, California, all of whom were present for the celebration. Mr. Kerekes was for many years a representative for William Penn. He and his wife are active members of Branch 27. W. Four of our members, Jack Palmer, Vice President; Mrs. Ann Wash, Secretary and Treasurer, and Mr. and Mrs. John Bunchy represented our Branch, at the Dinner-Dance for Branch 14 Cleveland, Ohio. It was so nice to see many of our dear friends. The food was wonderful, the music was grand, and the turn out for the affair was great. We wish Bill Kastan and his officers, also his committee success in the future, also we thank them for the reception we received. The way they all worked each and everyone deserves a big hand. HAPPY PARENTS are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Demeretz of 797 Edinridge Drive, Our Casualties in The conflict in Vietnam was brought closer to all of us at Branch 76 when we received the sad news that PFC. Francis S. Kovács, USMC gave his life for his country in the far-distant Vietnam in April, 1969. Francis was a member of this Association since childhood and his family are also William Penners. Youngstown, Ohio, on the safe return of their son Tommie who served 1 year in Vietnam and was home on a 30 day leave, and is now at the Air Base in Fort Ben, Harrison Indianapolis, finishing financing school. Good luck to you Tommie. Get Well wishes to Mrs. Ceil Vengren and Steve Chuey. We wish them a speedy recovery. A testimonial dinner and dance will be held on Saturday, October 18th, 1969, honoring Mrs. Mary Huthansel and Mr. Charles Fabian, Vice Presidents, for their loyal service as officers of Branch 48. Julie Melnick, Reporter the Vietnam War He was a graduate of Lincoln Prep School, June of last year, joined the marines in July of 1968 and died in April. The Branch Officers and members extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family. Francis S. Kovács BORSAY FAMILY LOSES SON Rev. Dr. László Borsay and his family have given a Son to the grim reaper a Vietnamese battle casualty. Péter Borsay The Borsay family have been members of the William Penn Fraternal Association since arriving from Canada to Springdale, Pa. Peter graduated from Springdale High School attended Geneva College, University of West Virginia where he received his Bachelors and Masters Degree and before enlisting was working towards his Ph.D. at the University of Utah. He went to Vietnam in April and in May he was killed accidentally by American artillery aimed at a hostile force. He was buried with full military honors in Morgantown, W. Va. in the cemetery opposite the family homestead, a fulfillment of his request when he was last at home. Peter spent his senior year at the University of West Virginia where his father had become professor of the Classical Languages. There again he excelled in speech and debate as well as a student.
