The Franklin Team of Branch 9 took a pair from the Trenton Team of Branch 417, and 13 in a good set of battles. High series of the day was rolled by L. Kish, scoring a 614, who is a member of the Trenton Team, with good games of 203, 224 and 187. Other good sets of games were M. Nagy’s 609, Joseph Kovács’ 609 and E. Sabo’s 591. High game of the day was rolled by L. Szilagyi’s 235, followed by J. Andro’s 232, P. Besz’s 219, J. Lukacs’ 204, S. Vechy’s 206, S. Sulligan’s 202, J. Pastor’s 203 and A. Toth’s 201. The New York ‘B’ Team was not scheduled to play. Mr. G. Novak of the Franklin Team of Branch 9 joined Verhovay on November I, 1941. According to “Rules and Regulations of the Verhovay Tri-State Bowling League,” a player must be a member of the association before he is allowed to play in any one game. Therefore I am compelled to charge the Franklin Team of Branch 9 with a three game loss through forfeit for the games that their Mr. G. Novak played on Sunday, October 26, 1941. For that day, a score of 125 pins shall be credited to the team, instead of the score rolled by the player. Same shall be said for the New York ‘B’ Team of Branch 394, which forfeits all games to date because of a Mr. G. Montani who is not a member of the Association. They are the best to date and enabled the team to win six games. Our competing teams are beginning to worry just a trifle, because of winning eleven games in a row. When ole 429 began bowling, chuckles were audible to a gleeful pitch, but now as each game ends captains hurry over to see how Verhovay is doing. Mary Kuritar is aiming to hit 160, which she once reached about three years ago when she quit bowling. Ethel Koy is the bundle of joy the team looks forward to each Thursday. The girls have their bowling uniforms which came in a soft shade of olive-green, the captain’s is njavy blue (more slenderizing), and the lettering should be on them before another week passes. The only alternate bowler to date is Mary Horvath. Elvira László is tied up with a secretarial course, and Mary Rakoczy Toth is wrapped up in her new life. We may not need two alternates, as the bowling becomes more fascinating each week. The private team kitty has assumed the huge sum of $3.50, and the gals have been wondering about allowing only three “misses” rather than the four per game as has been the custom.
