Pongrácz Erzsébet: The Cinemas of Budapest - Our Budapest (Budapest, 1998)
Örökmozgó (1910) 39 Erzsébet körút, district VII A smallish building on the körút, formerly functioning as a fashion emporium, was converted in the early 1910s into what came to be called the Royal Nagymozgó (Royal Great Movie), a little cinema specialising in adventure films and Westerns. Its name frequently changed - from Royal to Vesta, then to Erzsébet and then Pentele, becoming Mátra in the early fifties. Real change came with the eighties, when it was turned into a specialist cinema for children and youth. With times changing radically, its profile, and name, was altered once again. Today called the Örökmozgó (Perpetuum Mobile) it is now a member of the ART Chain and as such specialises in the greatest names of the history of Hungarian cinematography. In addition, it houses one-week sessions introducing films from countries whose cinema industry is relatively unknown in Hungary. When the show is over, filmgoers can discuss their impressions over a cup of tea or coffee in the cinema’s café or can browse in the video library and bookshop located on the premises. 31
