Cinder the terms of a contract between the companies Hungarhotels and Hilton, a world-class hotel meeting Hilton’s standards was to be built, one that would at the same time preserve the centuries-old heritage of the location. Designs by Béla Pintér answered every requirement whether related to the enhancement of the city-scape or following from the specific needs of hotel construction. The north wing functions as a museum, too, where visitors to the Castle area can see remains of the mediaeval monastery. In the south wing, the Nicholas Tower (with a relief portraying King Matthias Corvinus on its wall) and the cloisters of the monastery were also reconstructed. The fagade of the main entrance is reminiscent of the Interior Ministry and its late Baroque, or ‘Copf, style. The Budapest Hilton, which has 323 air- conditioned rooms and 28 suites, can satisfy the highest customer demands. No wonder it is one of the most popular hotels with well-to-do visitors.
