" Made in a mid-1954 issue of Magyar Építőművészet (Hungarian Architecture) these self-critical comments were in line with the changes of Hungary's political life that followed the death of Stalin. Imre Nagy's political agenda (inaugurated in June 1953) extended the home-building project-which had thus far focused on industrial centres-to the whole country with the intention of taking into consideration the real needs of the population. In response to all the criticism about standard designs, the Ministry liberated the industry of designing flats at a conference held in November of 1954; with that the making of individual designs and local types was authorised.
