But before doing so, allow me to draw a few applica­tions from the grand memories of the past and from the encouraging signs of the present. Compared numerically our nation with other na­tions was and even to-day is small. This was the case of our religion, too, and it is the same even to-day by the side of other religious denominations. But behold, Divine Providence graciously watched over both; and after many a fateful chance and peril, which they had to endure in the course of great centuries, He has not only preserved for us our dear country ond our beloved church, but let the morning of a most happy future dawn upon the firmament which has been many a time in darkness. Let then our faith and trust be strong and unshaken in God and in his Divine Providence as patriots as well as Unitarians. Let us have faith and confidence in the only One living and true God. And further let us foster in our hearts that love of fatherland, the fidelity to the throne, that strong attachement to the constitution and laws of our country also which our forefathers have always shown and have even sealed with their blood. And let us foster with no less warmth our love and our zeal, and our liberality to our church and our fidelity
