In a word, the fact that in the capital of our fa­therland — just 1000 years old — an Unitarian Commu­nity could start into being, that it could continue through 14 years ; that with bright hopes it may look into the future — we owe in a great measure to your religious sympathy, to your brotherly charity; and to your leaders in religious thought marching at the head of religious enlightenment. We have raised the banner ; but your strong, faithful and steady arm has helped us in keeping it erect and waving it on high. Receive our best thanks; and be assured that you as representatives of our English and American brethren, who through your sympathy came from such long dis­tances to join in our festivity — are most kindly wel­come in our midst. tr by N.
