Sctífcutp ESPECIALLY IN AUTUMN SEPTEMBER SOUNDS Across the sunny fields today Three boys (with one dog) take their way Exploring hillsides, climbing trees, With caution crawling on their knees Beneath projecting rocks that look Like caves, then rambling to the brook, Skim flat thin stones across its shores, Forgetting clocks and school and chores. They gather nuts, chase rabbits, swing On wild grape vines; meandering On Saturday in autumn, this Is wordless, boyhood wonder-bliss. As twilight comes they whistling go To separate homes, nor do they know. Such days when one is ten years old Yields mental treasures etched in gold. CLOTHING WAGON VISITS FACILITY The Wardrobe Wagon clothing company will be making their visit to our facility on Thursday, October 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Dining Room. I am sentient to the sounds of fall: The soughing breeze, the cricket's call, The noise of bins being filled with coal As down the chutes the great chunks roll, The rustle of the scattering leaves Which every sweeping gust achieves, The distant, rhythmic hammering sound As on leaky roofs the workmen pound, The children lagging home from school Discussing loudly some new rule, The blackbird's chatter in the trees; September sounds are such as these. And they are true reminders all That winter soon will follow fall.
