The Bethlen Home Messenger, 1996 (1-3. szám)

1996-03-01 / 1. szám

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION WEEK Each year thousands of Volunteers across the nation give of themselves to provide a special service to our communities, elderly, hospitals and our children. April 21st through the 27th is National Volunteer Recognition Week. The Bethlen Home and the Activity Department will be honoring their Volunteers with an Appreciation Luncheon and Award Presentation Program on Thursday, April 25,1996. This year's national theme is "EXPLORE THE WONDER...VOLUNTEER!" Volunteers are a very vital part of our home and our Resident's lives. Almost daily you see a smiling face who's willing to take the time to just listen. You can always find our volunteers helping with programs, outings, one on one visitation, etc. Even though the Bethlen Home has a small group of Volunteers, they are "mighty"! This year over 3,000 hours have been donated in volunteer time. This does not include the various community groups that come each month and sponsor a program or a church service. I salute you all for a job well done. You have helped to make our nursing home a successful and loving one. We couldn't have done it without you. This year's "VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR" award will be presented td Nellie Welty for her outstanding contribution to our home and Residents this past year. Listed below are our Bethlen Home Volunteers. This year Nellie donated over 500 hours of service. You can always find her smiling face several days a week visiting Residents and helping with various programs such as outing, parties and luncheons. The one thing that Nellie is most known for with the Residents is her Saturday Bingo. Each Saturday afternoon a large group of Residents gather together to join in on the festivities. You can also bet that refreshments will also be served. She's known for her pizza and pies. Thanks again Nellie for all your hard work and contributions that you have given to the Activity Department and the Residents. We're looking forward to another successful year.
