pbart ta pUari ^ DREAMS DO COME TRUE HEARTFELT "THANKS" Many of you are already aware when you enter a nursing home you will find that most of the Residents have very poor hearing. For many years the Activity Department wished for a portable public address system to be used during various programs such as church services, Bingo and when entertainment is scheduled. Recently this dream was made possible "Thanks" to Rev. Raymond Kaiser and the Hungarian Reformed Church of Dayton, Ohio. The Social Department of his church did a wonderful job in raising the funds for our two systems. We can't thank you enough for this wonderful gift! The one system provides several other functions besides being an address system. It will also work as a Karokee Machine. This means the Residents will be able to hear themselves sing along with the old time songs and follow the words on television. We know this will bring hours of fun. We've already shared many laughs at our recent Superbowl Party when the Residents and Staff tried singing some Steeler Fight Songs. The second system is a microphone built into a small portable podium. This will be used for church and group speakers at our hymn sings, etc. Thanks again Rev. Kaiser and your congregation for making this possible. I appreciate everyone's hard work and kindness that they put into making this dream come true. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has come and gone but the spirit that you folks have given to our Residents lives on. I would like to take this opportunity to "Thank" the many people that were involved with our Presents for Patients Program and the Tree of Giving through Kmart. You folks will never know how much impact and love those Residents felt when they opened their gifts. Just seeing the looks of surprise and their tears of appreciation that they weren't forgotten, was something else! Thank You for making them feel loved and making their holiday one to remember. The gifts the Residents received from their "Secret Santas" through the programs were just wonderful. Many received everything on their wish lists, from a six pack of beer to bedspreads for their rooms. That was the biggest hit, and many of the Residents were so proud in showing them off to everyone. The Residents were also blessed with many community organizations, schools, churches, etc. coming into perform for them during the holiday season. The Residents always love to see the little children come in and visit. So many of the students made things for the Resident's rooms. They even saved money to give their teachers to use for buying items to pass out to the Residents on their visit. Thanks to the following groups for all their hard work and contributions for the holiday season. God Bless You All! Sincerely, Sherry A. Humbertson, Activity Director IN MEMORY We recently lost one of our beloved cottage Residents Ernest Volkmann. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife Beatrice and their family. We will miss seeing his smiling face on his daily walks throughout the grounds of the home. The Activity Department would like to take this opportunity to thank the family for their memorial donation. Several large print books will be purchased in his memory and placed in the Nursing Home's Library.
