The Activity Department will be holding a Door Decorating Contest for the Resident's rooms. Six prizes will be given, one prize for each wing on both floors. Families are welcome to help decorate their loved one's door for the contest. Volunteers will also be available to those Resident's that need assistance. You must supply your own decorations, and the deadline for the door to be decorated is Friday, December 8th. Judging will be held on Monday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. Anyone having any questions please see Bobbi or Sherry. (Elga's (Gossip (Ecrlumn by Resident Olga Szabo Betsy Tinkey and Shane Yonkin are "Fixin" to leave, goin' south y'a hear! Betsy and Shane are nurses aides working the afternoon shift. We are going to miss them. They are going "a fer piece" (a further distance) from Ligonier, down to the outer banks of South Carolina. When you get there let us know if you can speak southern. Study that redneck manual to understand the South, y'a hear! Wishing you both the best on your new future. Erszebet Zilahy is in good shape after a hip replacement. Step lively Erszebet you will soon do a czardas (a Hungarian Dance) with your favorite therapist! Dallas Moore is back playing bingo after his hip injury....Lucky fella....always winning candy bars and potato chips! CLOTHING WAGONS VISIT THIS FALL During the months of September and November the families and Residents will have the opportunity to shop for clothing for their loved one here at the Bethlen Home in the Dining Room on the following dates: SUNSHINE BROTHER'S CLOTHING WAGON: Thursday, September 21, 1995 WARDROBE WAGON: Friday, November 17, 1995 Both companies will be here from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Dining Room. Both companies carry a wide variety of clothing designed for the nursing home resident, including back snap items, hospital style. Regular clothing will also be available for purchase. The companies will be bringing their Fall and Winter selections. Staff and Volunteers will be available to assist with any questions you may have. Now is a good time to start thinking of possible Christmas gifts for your loved one if you have trouble finding the specialized clothing. If you are unable to be here but would like clothing items purchased for your family member, please contact Sherry Humbertson or Pat Armel the Social Worker for details. Clothing can be billed to the family. SIGN UP FOR SECRET SANTA Attention Residents!!! Anyone wanting to sign up for being another Resident's Secret Santa, please see Sherry or Bobbie in the Activity Department. All you have to do is sign up for a Resident's name who also wants to participate, then you will be responsible for purchasing a small Christmas gift for that person. Frances Heintzelman and husband spend time outside visiting near the swing. As I visited with them, while together, husband calls his wife Boomer and her face lights up in a loving smile. Frances is a retired nurse who gave many a helping hand to many soldiers during World War II. You will present your gift at the Secret Santa luncheon during the week of Christmas. Watch for closer announcements in the in-house newsletter which is given monthly. Sign-up will be sometime in November.
