organizations and the Hungarian clubs. Participants also honored the past Miss Magyar winners and crowned the new Miss Magyar. A wonderful violinist, Steven Vance, played his violin. Rev. Dr. Daniel Borsay of the Free Hungarian Reformed Church, McKeesport, was the Hungarian speaker. Rev. Borsay talked about speaking well of one another and encouraged those in attendance to encourage and praise others. “God Bless America” was sung by the assembly at the closing of the program. Rev. Dr. Posta of the Duquesne Reformed Church and Springdale Church offered the closing prayer. 2nd Annual Car Wash for Operation Christmas Child Last year, we began to make children’s dreams come true for Christmas by helping with the shipment of the finished boxes to children throughout the world. A car wash was held to help with the shipment fees. Saturday, August 29, 2009 started with rain in the early morning hours after preparations were made for the car wash. Our helpers came, and by the time we had our coffee and a snack for breakfast, the rain stopped. By 11 a.m., we had our first car to wash and we were thankful. We had so much fun working together and enjoying the day knowing this was helping others who may receive a Christmas box for the first time the first gift in their lives. We ended the afternoon by 3 p.m. and had a cook-out at our home so we were able to extend the fun. We are looking forward to the next car wash. A Hungarian American Citizen’s Club piknikje június 28-ára, a Kossuth Klubunké július 9-ére esett. A Holy Trinity magyar templom összejövetelét pedig augusztus 8-án tartották. A Kossuth Klub piknikjén segített az Amerikai Magyar Polgári kör, elnökük Kristóf Sándor kedves feleségével Valéri-ával. A piknik előkészületei már egy nappal korábban elkezdődtek kolbászkészítéssel, ebben Kovács Józsi és segítői remekeltek. Mischák Kati, a Kossuth Klub elnöke, és a 176-os osztály menedzsere bevásárolta a hozzávalókat a töltött káposztához, amely szombaton készült. Ebben is egy összeszokott társaság ügyeskedett. Itt külön meg kell említeni a Sisák házaspárt, akik már hajnalban terjedelmes fazekakban elkezdték főzni a töltött káposztát, majd később az egész csoport készítette a finom nokedlit. Végre eljött a várva várt nap. Kovács Marika, a sütés mestere, már korábban megsütötte diós és mákospatkóit. Még a piknik napján is hazament és frissiben elkészítette a nagysikerű pörköltet. Mischák Kati több tepsi almáspitét és Magyarországon vásárolt sorsolási díjakat hozott. A Hunyadi házaspár South Bendről jött segíteni, a Kristóf házaspár Illinoisból. Skerl Atya is kivette a részét mindenből. A Kovács és a Sisák házaspár, Szilágyi Marika, a Végh házaspár, Horváth Marika és még sokan mások segítettek. A bárnál Végh Zsolt és fia illetve Szó Karcsi dolgozott. Az örökifjú 89 éves Körömi Marika néni, Sisak Ilike és Tóthfalusi Klárika készítették a lángost. Cservenák Gyuri kiválóan kezelte a zenegépet, és a focit is ő szervezte. Idén sok kisgyermek vendégünk is volt, még Nashville, Tennesseeből is érkeztek látogatók. Egy szó, mint száz, piknikünk jól sikerült és a bevétel segít abban, hogy a Kossuth Klub jövőre is működhessen.
