Page 19 Fraternity- Testvériség Our thanks and congratulations to everybody who participated with their support, countless hours and contribution to the materials. Branch 176 ’s Kati Mischak would like to thank the following people for their participation in their community project: Marika and Joe Kovács, Marika Members of Branches 176, 100, 17, 62 working to improve their church. Zemen, Father Skerl, László Hertelendy, Helen Fogarassy, Joe Knaver, David Sisak, Miklós Tothfalusi, Sándor Kristóf George, Janet and Sharon Rivich and Frank Gadish. Branch 62 has again conducted its regular clean-up program in Miskolc, Hungary, being the only project to spread the mission of JOIN HANDS DA Y overseas. Branch 300 owes a big “thankyou!” to Kati Nagy, who found out about the Interfaith Clothing Center in Gaithersburg, MD. Members from the Home Office and Branch Manager Frank Kapitan teamed up with two representatives from the Chesapeake Fraternal Congress, Bonnie and Frank Hum from the Woman’s Life Insurance Society (WLIS) to help with sorting, folding and displaying clothing items, taking out empty hangers and re-stocking shelves. What we enjoyed the most was assisting clients with their questions and requests. Kati Nagy became one of the “Most Needed Volunteers ” in the center thanks to her fluency in Spanish. HRFA and the Home Office would like to thank Bonnie and Frank (WLIS) for joining us and making this day a truly memorable one for all of us. Again another remarkable event was the baking of sugar-free muffins for residents of a local nursing home, where Kelly Melanson, a member of Branch 501 works. This project was coordinated by Mrs. Margaret Pauli, Branch Manager of Branch 501. Branch 202 of Pittsburgh, PA was continuing a tradition by recycling phone books. According to the preliminary counts they have delivered 131 books to the Recycle Depot. We would like to thank the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh, PA and Rev. Ilona Komjáthy for their continued support with HRFA 's JOIN HANDS DA Y project and other fraternal programs. Branch 600 mainly consists of school-age children and their parents. They decided to reach out to the elderly and surprise them with a nice performance in Hungarian. Parents and youth got together for rehearsals, prepared costumes, and worked hard and tirelessly on Fazekas Anna’s „Öreg néne őzikéje”, a poem about love and caring, a touching metaphor of mutual respect and understanding between generations. Gertrud Szilagyi, the director and co-founder of the Hungarian School has set Young members of Branch 600 performing a poem in their beautiful Hungarian mother tongue. an example for all of us to follow in dedication and noble character. At the end of the performance the children presented flowers not only to members of the church, mothers and grandmothers, but also to the school director who was surprised with a bouquet of redolent roses that came from the students ’ loving hearts. Jules Balogh, Kati Nagy, Judit Zambo and Frank Kapitan (1-r) put their folding/sorting skills to the test that morning. Wrapping muffins is fun! The 3 young members, Laura, Lisa and Kelly Melanson are granddaughters of Mrs. Pauli, the photographer of this picture. Our thanks goes out to them, as well as Kelly’s boy friend for his help.
