OAK BROOK, IL, June 29, 2006 —The National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA) recognized Margaret (Peggy) Fabri—a member of Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Branch #151, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania—as a Fraternal MVP (Most Valuable Participant) in Washington, D.C., on June 21, 2006. Fabri, honored for her outstanding fraternal service, met with Members of Congress representing her home state and Congressional district. Fraternal MVPs are “Fraternalists-in-Action” who volunteer their time and energy to strengthen their communities through participation in local lodge activities and other charitable endeavors. Wade. “As a Fraternal MVP, Ms. Fabri embodies the heart of fraternalism through her hard work, dedication and generosity. She demonstrates how fraternalism is a force for good in American society.” Ml During her Capitol Hill visits, Fabri met with Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pennsylvania) and Ml Vk Representative Melissa Hart (R-Pennsylvania). These Members of Congress were very interested in ~ v ~ learning what Fabri and her fraternal benefit society, Hungarian Reformed Federation, are accomplishing in their state and districts, and expressed their support for fraternal contributions to local communities. “Fraternals have a great story to tell, and no one can tell it better than the individuals who devote their time to making their communities a better place by helping their neighbors and friends,” said NFCA Chair Wade. “Margaret Fabri went to Washington and was an excellent goodwill ambassador for the fraternal benefit system. Through her story, she demonstrated to Members of Congress the good works performed by fratemalists every day.” Of the 10 million fratemalists nationwide, Fabri was selected for this honor for her many contributions and long history of volunteerism. Her involvement in fraternal and charitable activities has been a shining example for others. Fabri has been very active with the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America (HRFA) for many decades. She has organized the Federation Picnics for Western Pennsylvania for many Pe8§y Fabn Wlth Representative Melissa Hart (R-Pennsylvama) years. She has served on the Kossuth Committee, the Annual Golf Outing Committee, and helped with her branch Christmas parties, Hungarian Day at Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh, JOIN HANDS DAY projects, Operation Christmas Child, and HRFA’s “Appalachian project,” a new program aiming to help the disadvantaged in the Appalachian region. Also, Fabri has been involved with planting flowers and placing flags for veterans and servicemen at the Grandview Cemetery in Beaver Falls as part of its Memorial Day Celebration, raising funds for Branch #151 members in need, and sponsoring a young man through Bible College through several fund raisers. Most recently, Fabri helped with a fundraiser for “Angels ‘R’ Us,” a non-profit organization in Beaver County founded for the families of local children, under the age of 18, who are diagnosed with cancer. The event was an afternoon of fashion, food and fun for women and girls of all ages, which raised money to help these children and their families with their financial burdens. “I have been very involved in my community in many facets,” Fabri said. “The one that touches my life the most has been working with ‘shut-ins.’ I spend time visiting and conversing with these homebound people. Seeing their faces light up brings more reward to me than words can express.” Fabri and her husband, Joe, have three daughters and three sons-in-law, as well as several grandchildren.
