Zámbó Judit Sandra B. Fritz The Food Artist In the many different fields of art, there has been a new area Sandra B. Fritz and George Dózsa emerging to the level of applied harmony and beauty: culinary art. I am not only talking about the art of cooking, baking, serving, but the art of the buffet table as well, where carrots are turned into roses, pears become birds, and all the vitamins and essential minerals are so pleasing to the eye that you just cannot resist the temptation — the healthy temptation. Sandra B. Fritz, an incontestable artist in her field, presented us with her magnificent food creations at the Bethlen Home Picnic this summer. This is a gift from God that she perfected over the course of years. She started her dietary career in the Latrobe Hospital before joining Ligonier Gardens 5 years ago. Sandra recently became the Event Coordinator/Dietary Manager for the new Bethlen Home. “I love it. The people are wonderful. It is a state-of-the-art facility, and my team is very supportive” she confesses. “In the new building patients have separate kitchens for the different wings. They truly enjoy the advantages. Patients are socializing more and eating better which in many cases is the key to a successful treatment.” In her opinion, the most interesting part is the personalized meals and the therapeutic meals for different diets. This is where her talent, catering background, and schooling come together to benefit those for whom eating the right food is not just pleasure but a matter of health or recovery as well. Besides her duties with the patients of the new Bethlen Home, she also takes care of the events, receptions, and special occasions like HRFA’s Fraternal C oordinators Meeting on July 18. I have never . „ . . . Veggie-basket from the Picnic before had such a scrumptious, scientifically approved breakfast with all the elements of the food pyramid in the right proportion. Being a lover of fresh veggies and fruits, I especially appreciated the fruit salad that is usually missing from the traditional Hungarian breakfast table. Sandra explains that she learned “veggie-art” by reading many books on the subject, learning to get to feel the harmony of taste and color, and just trying and trying. She encourages everybody in the kitchen to be a little more creative. But when it comes to the question of what makes her successful in the area of dietary art, she says: “I have a wonderful dietary staff, they make it all possible. 1 am certain, I can’t make it all by myself.” Judit Zambo
