Fraternity- Testvériség Page 21 Margaret Harper, member of Branch 54: “I am currently enrolled as a sophomore at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am studying in the field of Journalism, and 1 love writing and the English language. I have had an insurance policy with the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America ever since I was born. My grandparents and great- grandparents were actively involved in the Federation. In the nursing home where I work, residents remember me as a child from when they would pay my grandmother a visit about their policies.” Dana Marie Ulakovic, member of Branch 197: “I am currently a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh where I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicate Sciences and Disorders. I plan on focusing my studies on Speech and Language Pathology in graduate school. It has always been a dream of mine to have a career in which I can help people in some way that will impact them in their everyday lives. Communication is such a critical part of our lives. I cannot think of any part of my day in which I do not communicate with anyone. The many different ways of communicating fascinates me, which is why I intend on receiving a certificate in American Sign Language. When 1 become a Clinical Speech Language Pathologist, I want to work with and around children. The reason for this is because I feel the most important part of developing communication takes place between the times from birth through adolescence. Plus, I cannot even describe the feeling of helping a child with a speech or language disability. They will use what I have taught them the rest of their lives. I am so happy and grateful that The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America offers financial assistance to college students. Having to pay for my entire education without any help from my parents is extremely difficult. Any help that I could possibly get is greatly appreciated, especially, since I plan on studying in London in the spring of 2005. 1 will use this scholarship money to assist me while 1 am living and studying in London. While in London, 1 plan on traveling to Hungary to experience the country where my relatives were born, and also I plan to visit some relatives that are currently living there. 1 am also very happy that my grandmother, Helen Buckholz, purchased an insurance policy for me through the HRFA. It is a relief to know that there is an organization out there that cares about the future as much I do. I appreciate everything that the HRFA has to offer me in support of my educational expenses, education, and future career in Speech Language.” (Dana was recommended by Branch 197 Manager, Joseph Berei) Ashley Nicole Nagy, member of Branch 182: “I would like to thank the HRFA for granting me this scholarship. 1 am attending Michigan State University currently and will graduate in May of 2007. My areas of study are merchandising management and apparel and textile design. I hope to graduate with these as a double major, with two Bachelor of Science degrees. With a thorough knowledge of both subjects, I hope to obtain a career in merchandising management with a focus on apparel. To help me achieve these goals, I hope to get an internship in the summers 2005 and 2006. One of my main extracurricular activities at MSU is being on the board of the Merchandising Management Association. Last year, 1 was a member and applied for the position of the Director of Special Projects. I received this position and am now involved in planning all of our trips, as well as attending weekly board meetings, general membership meetings, and events. Just this past October, during the 21st through 24th, we took our largest trip of the year to New York City. I was responsible for planning our airfare, accommodations, ground transportation, and business meetings. We were able to meet with six different businesses and learned a great deal about the opportunities available within our major from people doing what we hope to do in several years. My other interests and hobbies include watching sports, shopping, being with friends and family, and traveling. My two favorite teams are MSU and the Detroit Pistons, and I watch both as often as I get a chance to. While I have traveled with family in the U.S., I hope to
