Page 16 TESTVÉRISÉG Annual Fraternal Day On June 10, 2001 we had our annual fraternal event at West Mayfield Park in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. It was a beautiful sunny day. The music filled the air, the children played - they loved the crafts, the games and the raffle prizes - and the adults socialized - we could not have asked for more! I would like to compliment the branch members for their hard work, especially the ladies for donating the wonderful pastries. Annual Fratenal Day, June 10, 2001. Nello DeSantes donated almost all the raffle items. Thanks Nello! We had the best gulyás, hurka-kolbasz, sauerkraut sandwiches, and bacon fry. Children ages 12 and under received free meals and sodas - and there were at least 40 of them. It is very encouraging to see that parents continue coming to Hungarian events with their children. We thank Rose Gerzsenyi for bringing two van-full of people from Pittsburgh and the Miskolzi’s for bringing a group from Ellwood City. Thanks to Rick and his group for providing the music. Thanks to all who made this event successful. Special mention to the Fleishom, DeSantes, Maldonato, Fabri, Csornán, Spagina, Bowers, and Kovács families, as well as to Elizabeth Rezes and Helen Wilson. The day ended with a late bacon fry. A wonderful time was had by all. We would like to recognize Sage and Aubrey Bowers for donating their time to work with crafts with the children at our annual fraternal day. We appreciate their help very much. The children responded well to them, and the parents appreciated the patience and talent Sage and Aubrey demonstrated. We also wish to congratulate Sage and Aubrey for being top students in their class at Blackhawk High School in Beaver Falls. Sage and Aubrey Bowers Welcome to our Fraternal Family We warmly welcome Amanda Hill, one of our newest members, to our branch. Amanda is happy to have joined our fraternal family, all the more that she will be traveling to Budapest, Hungary as a missionary to teach at the International Christian School of Budapest (ICSB). Throughout her college years and her involvement in Campus Crusade for Christ’s movement on Miami University’s campus, she had heard and was profoundly moved by the teachings and life examples of many full-time missionaries. Campus Crusade’s mission is to reach the world for Jesus so that every person will have a chance to hear the gospel. At ICSB Amanda will not only be teaching children of missionaries from America who serve in Budapest, but also Hungarian and international students. The classes are taught in English, and the curriculum is American based. Teachers at ICSB provide a quality education for missionary children, enabling their parents to stay in Hungary and continue their ministry. She is thankful to the Lord for giving her the opportunity to be a part of His plans overseas, and she knows that it is a privilege to be included in His plans for Hungary next year. We wish Amanda God’s blessings on her call. Western Pennsylvania Branches of the HRFA form a Kossuth Club An organizational meeting was held at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Duquesne, Pennsylvania on July 21, 2001 at 6:30 P.M. Present were: Maria and Joseph Berei, Bela and Clara Csikesz, Olga Damay, Peggy and Joe Fabri, Rev. Alexander Jalso, Marian Nagy, and Rev. Joseph Posta. Bert Olah excused himself. The purpose of the meeting was to form a Kossuth Club under the auspices of the Western Pennsylvania Branches 6/15, 126/226, 134, 151, 197/245, 8/198, and 202. The joint effort would make it much easier for us to organize social and fraternal activities throughout the district. It would also give us the opportunity to get to know one another, share problems/successes, exchange ideas and plan the future. The officers elected were: Bela Csikesz, President; Rev. Joseph Posta, Vice President; Peggy Fabri, Secretary; Joseph Fabri, Treasurer; Olga Damay and Maria Berei, Auditors; Clara Csikesz, Activity; and Rev. Alexander Jalso, Public Relations between churches. We also decided to accept social members who will hopefully become insurance members too.
